RUNNERS UP
11 D’Orc #1 – Jorge Corona
This variant from Jorge Corona struck a bit of a different tone with collectors. It was one of the initial variants to drop, and nailed that vibe of being a bit darker. A more serious tone, for a decidedly unserious title, while still appearing colorful. That was exactly what some collectors wanted, and continue to want as they steadily pick up copies. We tracked 10 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 19% with a high sale of $70 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $59.
12 D’Orc #1 – Blank
Every cover available with the initial drop of D’Orc went gangbusters, but the blank variant is starting to lag in sales, not price. Part of the appeal of blank variants is a signature or remark from the creator, but many in the hobby consider it a nothing burger. That works out well for others who opt to snag these versions for usually a bit cheaper than the other variants. That’s not really ringing true for this book, however! We tracked 8 copies sold, with a 7-day growth trend of 32%, including a high sale of $90 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $82.
13 Tigress Island #1 – EPHK – Regular
Again, with smaller titles from smaller publishers, many LCS stick with Cover A only. That leads to a ton of aftermarket sales, like this book, but with a more limited barrier to entry compared to the variants. That’s worked out well for collectors who just want to add the title to their collection. Many opted to secure this Cover A from EPHK, as Tigress Island was hyped from the opening bell. We tracked 124 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $20 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $13.
14 D’Orc #1 – Brett Bean – Regular
The book that blew the aftermarket doors wide open! D’Orc hit the scene, and it’s been frantic since. But, unlike some other aftermarket wonders, D’Orc just keeps ticking. Cover A has ballooned in price, and we’d typically see a downward trend as collectors opt to keep their wallets closed. Other titles have dominated the headlines, but D’Orc has continued to smash sales. We tracked 69 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 2% with a high sale of $305 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $103.
15 Mark Spears Monsters #9 – Mark Spears – Unholy Hour (1:50)
It’s been a moment since we’ve seen a Mark Spears book, but holy heck, this book is killing it! Mark Spears Monsters dominated markets last year, but this series finished #8 with a stellar twist that had collectors clamoring for this book. Then, Mark Spears did what he does and dropped a stunning 1:50 variant for collectors to chase. We tracked 6 copies sold, with a 7-day growth trend of 0%, including a high sale of $100 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $91.
16 Terminal #Ashcan – Andy Kubert – Connecting Covers – Cover A
The newest outing from Image icon Robert Kirkman is seeing some early traction! With some big names on the title, it’s not surprising to see the ashcan versions drawing so much interest. On the heels of the D’Orc ashcan situation, collectors aren’t taking chances and are working overtime to secure this book! We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1% with a high sale of $50 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $31.
17 White Sky #1 – Jean Paul Mavinga – Regular
This book went bananas before it even dropped, and is still doing solid numbers! Heck, many were waiting in line to secure a copy, and those who couldn’t had to pivot to the aftermarket. For a book that saw so much hype out of the gate, it’s held its place in the market remarkably well. Considering this book hits the Walking Dead, father/daughter, protector vibe very well, many collectors opted to pay the price to secure a copy. We tracked 51 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 9% with a high sale of $35 for a raw NM+ copy and a current raw NM FMV of $29.
18 Star Wars: Shadow Of Maul #1 – Bjorn Barends (1:25)
Darth Maul is one of the most beloved characters to come out of the prequels. Heck, he’s even getting a show on Disney+! Part of the Darth Maul wave was this book, a prequel to the show dropping next month. Dang, did this 1:25 from Bjorn Barends draw some attention from fans, as it’s essentially a snapshot of our introduction to the character in the prequels. AND this book drops the first appearance of Brander Lawson and Two Boots, but their importance is still yet to be determined by the community at large. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 2% with a high sale of $52 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $43.
19 Nectar #1 – Chris Shehan – Regular
Nectar took the market by storm, and it continues to move outrageous numbers on the aftermarket, albeit at a reduced FMV as hype subsides. A book that wasn’t found on a shelf at an LCS in America for a period is still susceptible to the waxing and waning interest of the comic community. But with a hook like this book, enough interest remains to keep it on our list. We tracked 131 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1% with a high sale of $126 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $17.
20 Narco #1 – Daniel Hillyard & Dave Stewart – Regular
The Hitchcock homage variant was bound to get more attention as it appeals to a massive range of collectors, but Cover A is no slouch! Daniel Hillyard killed it with his series Sleep, and collectors immediately jumped from the conclusion of that series into his newest title, Narco. While hype is moving quickly, there are still collectors snagging up copies now that it’s died down a hair. We tracked 51 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3% with a high sale of $22 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $13.
