Thanks to Terry Hoknes for the tip on this one, he is the owner of Hoknescomics.com, we run Terry’s articles here, and he writes for Invest Comics.

There are no copies on the market right now. (Well there is one listed here.) Skyward #1 It might not be a bad idea to pick one of these all ages books up if you can find one.

Action Lab Comics highest selling comic clocked in at #365 And the book was ‘Princeless Stories Warrior Women One Shot 1’ with a print run of 1,274 back in Nov 2012.

  1. another all aged book that’s not getting a lot of recognition do to it super low print run is Bodie Troll, i been buying these when i can find them, definitely a good pick up!

    print runs

    #1=1981

    #2=?

    1. Bodie Troll is a funny one, there will be sales of it for about ten bucks and there will be copies that don’t sell for cover price. Not sure what to make of it yet. Have been watching it for a while now. But you are correct, extremely low print run.

    1. My Problem with Bodie troll is the inconsistent nature of the sales of the book. Some sell at $9.99 some sell for less, some do not sell for less. This book has all the potential to shoot up, especially the very low print run, but it hasn’t. I have copies if anyone wants them.

      1. Anybody do a search for this book on ebay and notice that there are barely any Skywards posted for sale? I found one listing for $38.00…not sure it’ll sell, but I’d think there would be more listed. If it’s that rare, I wonder how likely the heat will last. I grabbed a few in my inventory….

  2. I’m ‘working’ on getting 20 copies of Skyward #1 (1st print of course) for cover price from a comic shop here in the UK. If that deals pops off, I’ll gladly share the details.
Same with Burn the Orphanage #1 (RELEASED TODAY…WOOOHOOO), I have a couple of shops here seeing if they can fill my order quickly.
Also, I’ve found BOTH of the Jeremy Dale ‘exclusive’ SDCC variants of Skyward #1 for $10 a pop. I’m going to grab a bundle of those to keep on hand when this comic goes…SKYWARD!!!!!!!! Sorry, couldn’t help it!

    Peace!

    1. Nice let us know how it goes and let us know how your sales are. I know one seller in Canada getting $20 plus for the regular cover of Skyward. I have been getting 15.99 for a store variant of Burn The Orphanage.

    2. Also, do not forget to like us on facebook at Facebook.com/comicsheatingup I will be giving away a free phantom, ghost, or store variant once we hit 100 likes

  3. I’m more of a holder rather than a flipper. I’m still holding my chew full run, perter panzerfaust 2x full runs, thief of thieves 2x full runs just to name a few…all first prints of course…some of the more scarce 2nd prints as well. Just holding on to a lot of the stuff I’ve spek’ed before… Rachael Rising #1(1st print of course)…older stuff like that! But then again, I’m still holding stuff like the first KICK ASS series…I have 8 full sets of those…
A few other obscure titles that I’m currently holding are: Axe Cop, The New West, Undying Love, Nemesis, The Ghouly Boys, Sixth Gun (2 & 3 only…arrgh) funny story with this one…I had it pegged cheap, and got 2 and 3 easily, and then I read that NBC are notorious for dropping titles, so I didn’t want to WASTE MONEY on a bunch of #1’s for $10 a pop…yes, I got Spek-Monkeyed on this one…shudda stuck to my ‘Sixth Gun’! Anyway, a few other titles that I’m deep spek’n on are: Happy, Isis, Ghosted, Satellite Sam, Helheim, Hit Girl, Beautiful Killer, Scam (ONLY 777 COPIES WERE PRODUCED), Destroyer (Early Kirkman), Irredeemable Ant-Man (Early Kirkman), and Capes (SUPER-RARE, Early Kirkman)…Phewww!

As far as the Scam book, Bleeding Cool ran a story on it last year:
    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/01/17/scam-1-steals-lead-on-supercrooks-exclusive-preview/

IT SEEMS TO BE FINALLY HEATING UP A BIT!!!!!!! I bagged tons of copies of this, plus 3 of the Artist Edition Sketch Covers…of which, there were only 100 produced EACH! They were all supposed to be hand numbered to 100, but I think Mr. Mulvey bit off more than he could chew there. All 3 of mine are actually hand numbered, which is cool. Hand numbered #1 of 100 on one of them…THAT MAKES IT A 1 of 1 RARE commodity! Hahahhaha!

    Cool stuff!

I’ll let you guys know if I run across any other spek stuff.

This site is great, and I will contribute to your success any way I can…..

    1. Wow That is a lot to respond to. I am a flipper and a collector. I still have my full run of Chew and Peter Panzerfaust (run was signed by both creators), full run of Walking Dead and Rachel Rising too.I have sold a ton of them as well. Same with Sixth Gun. The only Sixth Guns I have left are issues 14 and up, most of which are double signed ( actually have them up on ebay right now)

Axe Cop could rise depending on how the cartoon does.

SCAM is great. I have an old Third Eye Comics variant of the original Self-Published version (not the reprinted Diamond Distributed version) and I love that series. There were several retailer variants that came out. Red Ten is also a great book by them.

Thank you for being willing to contribute. I always accept emails with tips at apopcomics@gmail.com and on our facebook page facebook.com/comicsheatingup. If I run a story written by someone else or off a tip from someone else i always give full credit to who did it.

  4. Here’s a question. I found a few at NM. I also found some that were a bit worn with shelf ware. Dents, dinks and such. Probably VF+. I still picked them up with a disclaimer of thier condition to the buyer. Do you usually do the same thing? Pick up or leave the less VF+/VF behind? I figure you can still flip at a reduced price…

    1. I would pick them up and sell it at a discounted price. Also ask the store to get a discount from the shop on the dinged book. I have sold plenty of books that were hot but not near mint at 20% off or so of the current selling price.

      1. I got real lucky with this title right here. Sold a copy and made some good gains. However, after this weekend, this may have already cooled. Hopefully, we can keep this up.
