‘The Outliers #1 pushing $60

On vacation this weekend so I am mostly doing updates from my iPhone. A quick check of eBay shows that The Outliers#1 has passed the $50 mark with an auction selling for $51.99 and is now pushing the $60 mark with one copy selling for $59.99.

  1. Yes I have seen that. I see one up there for $120 Signed and a Sketch in the first front page. I’m keeping mine.

      1. I have a total of 10 copies. Research, Research. Five from Erik TJohnson. 2 From Newbury Comic, and 4 from Barnes & Noble in North Dakota. And I am waiting for one more . I be doing my foot work online. It was a long and hard process. But I am content with what I have.

          1. Science Fiction/ Fantasy. Mind you this was almost 2weeks now. Alot of people sleep on Newbury Comic And Barnes &Noble. Now one of the Newbury comic store that I go to from time is in and near a Very Prestige College. So most of these students come from paper. So I guess they don’t collect. They money is long. My money is like Leprechauns “SHORT”.

    1. I so tempted to flip another copy. Baltimore comic con is next week and I want to free up capital for more books. eBay has ran back to back listing specials so I have been listing and selling the hell out of things to have extra cash on hand.

      1. This might be sleeper, By the looks of things this could be one to hold on too. Just saying. All though this might be one to push forward to get that special comic book that one’s have they eye one. If there is that Silver Age comic book that you been watching, this book might help to purchase that one.

        Just a thought…

  2. Outliers was good. The people that received sketches like me were lucky. The artist was dedicated to this book and he sent out incentives. I am great full.

….waiting for #2…. Keep up the great work guys/girls

    1. Absolutely. We have all been saying we cannot wait for the second issue. Sent an Email to Erik Johnson, and he said that they were working on figuring out the distribution, so at this point, he cannot comment on when the second issue will come out. It was such a great book that I cannot wait.

      1. Good morning my people. I agree with what you saying @comicflipper. Hopefully Chapter #2 will come to see the light. Fingers crossed. Since The Outliers #1 did so good, maybe he can invest on making Chapter #2. Maybe he might get funded to do it. Or maybe Kickstart it.

  3. So 6 comments into this post and really no appreciation for the creators. I know this is an advised website, but no appreciation??? Oh well y’all enjoy your potential money

    1. Hi Michael, yes, 6 comments into this post without appreciation for the Erik. However, if you check our other posts on this book, and there has been quite a few, we as a community have been raving about the creator, Erik T. Johnson and the book. In fact, we had the book picked as our pick of the week due to the art, the story, and the fact that it is a small print book. Sorry you didn’t see the praise for him in the comments on this post, but they are there in the other posts.

      1. Yeah, since it was first brought up in the Comic Picks Of The Week a week or so ago, it’s had around 5 topics of it’s own with each topic generating the most comments. I think there’s all kinds of appreciation for this book, since that’s all we’re talking about. 🙂

  4. I honestly don’t know what to do with prices soaring…so I’m going to continue to do nothing. :-o. I am so tempted right now….I think we all are…

  5. I was lucky enough to get a signed/sketched copy. I also have an unsigned version, but there is a stciker on of a UPC over the UPC on the back cover. Is this on all of them, or was this from something else? Thanks!

    1. Hey it was in some but not all. The printing on the slip cover caused the UPC code to be unreadable by a bar code scanner. So they slapped a sticker over the ones that were bad. I got one with and two without.

  6. Sorry for the bad spelling. I meant that there is a sticker of a UPC over the UPC symbol on the back cover. Is the sticker on all of the unsigned versions, or is this a Diamond or comic book store thing?

    1. The Outliers #1 just sold for $120 on ebay. Wow, I am really impressed on this book is doing. This goes out to all those who still have copies. Hold on to them cuz the price on these Bad Boys will continue to climb. Especially the Sketch ones.
Just sit back and wait, let them get a few bucks right. Cuz the real paper will come all in due time. The reviews on this book is crazy!

    1. Shouldn’t. It comes from the company that way. It does come of but I do not recommend trying. I heard it was easy to do but wouldn’t go about modifying it or ripping it.

      Sent from my iPhone

  7. I just remember some books (maybe Marvel G.I. Joe or something like that) that had a UPC version or some such “alternate” back in the day. I just wanted to check to see if maybe the stickered version was more rare or vice versa. With such a small print, any variation maybe/could mess with the value. Thanks again for such an awesome site!

  8. Is it me or does The Outliers seem to be leveling off a bit? I’m seeing the BIN got for $50-$60 each while the auctions are ending mostly between $40-$50 range. I think I might be dumping my two extra copies, I think this one’s peaked for now as there seems to be more and more available on eBay, which isn’t likely going to drive the prices up any further since there’s more to choose from or if you miss out, there’s other auctions.

      1. Well, I listed both of mine. One as a BIN and the other as auction listing. With that in mind, I ended the BIN to hold onto it a little longer to see what works out because I’m holding onto one copy, cause I want to see #2 and perhaps more to have the complete set going forward. 🙂

  9. Sounds interesting, Comicflipper! Do I smell a possible movie or TV series? This is such a cool book that has a chance at something B-I-G. Maybe not Walking Dead BIG, but there is awesome potential!

  10. Info direct from Johnson regarding a 2nd printing of #1 maybe….or funding for ish 2?

Just guessing…I like Guessing and spekin’….OBVIOUSLY!

    1. Something is in the works. Just in the works at the moment. Talks are being made. That may lead the book to be back on the shelves. Something that would make interest in the first book possibly rise.

      1. Just hold on to them boys. What’s the worst that could happen. That we only spent $5 on a book. Time will only tell.

        1. Maybe true, but those people that have first print are the ones that will make out real good. Like I said, I still have all of mine.

        2. The prices on The Outliers #1 just keeps rising I’m still amazed how good the book is actually doing if you take a look on ebay they keep selling. Like I said before. Hold on to them guys.

  11. I TOLD YOU GUYS I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OUT THE HEAVY ARTILLERY TO GET THIS BOOK!

Yea, I just found 7 copies (1st print of course)! I paid slightly more than I originally wanted, but by the time all the dust has settled regarding this HOT book, I will more than cover my investment! Again folks, I’m a holder, not a flipper, so I’ll still have my copies when the secondary market price reaches $1000 (trace the steps of Walking Dead comic)! Honestly, I think this book will eclipse the current heat of say Peter Panzerfaust (and PP has a ‘guaranteed’ two-season TV show inked already)!

@1195200, I absolutely agree, to a certain extent. My reasoning is: with ONLY 1600-1800 1ST prints having been produced, Erik Johnson didn’t really make any money. But if a large company pumps loads of money into his project, and market it like, say Marvel and DC, then they can ride the OBVIOUS popularity of the book, AND RAKE IN A VERY HEFTY PROFIT OFF OF THE BACK OF THAT!

But, like PROPHECY75 said, ONLY THE FOLKS THAT HAVE THE ORIGINAL, 1ST PRINT BOOKS ARE SITTING ON THE GOLD MINE! They can reprint all they want, and believe me, SUCKERS will buy those books, but me personally, I don’t mess around with 2nd prints and reprints and such…1ST PRINTS IN VF OR BETTER CONDITION ONLY FOR ME! Otherwise, IMO, you’re just wasting your money…THERE’S NO RE-SALE VALUE IN 2ND/REPRINT MATERIAL (for the most part, AND ONLY MY PERSONAL OPINION).

Changing gears: What about Todd ugliest kid? That book has kept its heat, and over here in the UK, you can’t get it for less than 40 GBP (approx $60-65)! I only scored 8 #1’s, but I got 6 full runs so far(1st prints of course)…gonna finish off my runs, and hold onto that one too!

The following is just an observation, and I don’t mean to step on anyone’s toes:
@1195200, I hereby suggest to COMICFLIPPER that YOU get the credit for the: BATMAN FAMILY #6 spek. Sorry DAKOIT, but 1195200 speck’d the book on COMICSHEATINGUP 1 day before you did (28 August, 2013)! Check the post’s! Sorry COMICFLIPPER, but I’m just trying to get the credit to the right folks! I admit, I went out and quickly got my two VF copies of BF6 after I saw DAKOIT’s post, but when I looked a few days later, I noticed that @1195200 had actually mentioned BF6 in a post a day earlier, but I must have missed that one!

Anyway, I’m finished stirring-up trouble now!

    1. One of the best communities I’ve bumped into yet. They are holding they price. I am up 13 copies right now. 5 of them have Original Sketches from Erik T Johnson. We all will be on the look out for Chapter 2, that’s if it happens to become.

By the way, I read God Is Dead By Johnathan Hickman. The Red Ten #4.
Reality Check #1. And The Mocking Dead #1. All good reads.

Did any of you read Ballistic #1? From Black Mask Studio.

    2. Thats correct! and i deserve all credit…..(just kidding) I just understand the purpose of this site and feel that all opinions are worth a listen. We are all in this together, speculation is not easy and I just feel that with help and creative advice we can all succeed in our mission to make money off of comic books.

On another note. I will rarely pay more than double cover Price for a Modern book unless I feel its going to fund my needs for future purchases.

  12. Hahahahha, you took my thoughts right from my brain COMICFLIPPER! They are having a huge COMIC MART in Leeds, UK on the 14th of September, and I will be in hot pursuit of EVERY book that has been spek’d on your site since I joined in March. BUT BF6 is first on my list…I’M GONNA HUNT THAT PUPPY DOWN! Yea, yea, I’ll quickly look for Outliers #1, but it’s BF6 that’s haunting my dreams right now! Like I said, I have 2 VF copies so far, with another VF copy on offer to me, but for about $25. I’m mulling that over; we’ll see! But, I can’t WAIT to get to that COMIC CON in Leeds and rip those bargain bins to pieces!

    Roll on Next Next Saturday!
