Dakoit Weekly Speculation Hit List 10/16/13

From Dakoit at http://comicbookspeculation.blogspot.ca/

Dakoit has some great picks this week (and because I am behind on my reading pile on from last week.)

The Dakoit WEEKLY SPECULATION HIT LIST (October 16th 2013)!

As Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus Day comes to a close, I hope everyone is sharing some great food and great fun with friends and family this long weekend. I will give you my larger post later this week, sorry I was totally under the weather this weekend. So I’ll start this Monday with my Hit List. So let’s get started!

In my constant quest to get you the most recent speculator info (In addition to my weekly in-depth blog columns) I thought I’d start a rapid post, and shoot out some recent books worth grabbing cheap if you can find them. Here are some Dakoit quick picks to grab at the store this week, some are older and some are new!

1. <a href=”http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=24709721&AffID=1003187P01“>Letter 44 #1 (Oni Press)</a>
    Releasing: Oct 16th 2013
Why? This one has been getting a lot of hype. Another #1 from Oni press.

2. <a href=”http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?q=peter+panzerfaust+15&pubid=&PubRng=&AffID=1003187P01“>Peter Panzenfaust #15 (Image) </a>
Released: Oct 9th 2013 (LAST WEEK)
Why? Guys, I  missed this one last week, try and grab one while you still can.
1st appearance of Croc in the series. He will be another major villain. BBC tv series
                in works.

3. <a href=”http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?q=detective+647&pubid=&PubRng=&AffID=1003187P01“>Detective Comics #647 (DC)</a>
    Released: August 1992
Why? With recent news that DC will FINALLY put out a book with former Batgirl/Spoiler fan
favorite Stephanie Brown in it, why not get her first appearance, try finding them in back
               issue bins at cover price.

4. <a href=”http://shrsl.com/?~4cgf”>Imagine Agents #1 (BOOM!)</a>
     Releasing: October 16th 2013
Why? With recent hits like Day Men, Boom may have another hit. Very unique story with
                beautiful art.

In closing,

Initially I knew about Letter 44 for several months now, but it appears many have caught on with the speculation as well, therefore I have some reservations. First, we’ve all been burned in past with Oni press potentials such as Helheim and The Strangers, both were well ordered and I anticipate Letter 44 will be as well. Secondly, one website dubbing this comic the next ‘Saga’ remains to be seen. Saga is galaxy spanning action-romance, and just seems to have appeal for every adult comic reader. It is also now a Nebula Award and Eisner Award winner…very large shoes to fill with Letter 44. I suggest grab one to two copies max, as stores will be ordering fairly heavy with this one.

Peter Panzenfaust #9 introduced Hook, and now in #15 Croc. I would highly suggest grab these key books immediately while you can find them!

Detective Comics #647 is a long term investment. And I mean very long term. Grab it in back issue bins with Tec#648 for only a couple bucks. Any key Batman character is worth a grab.

Imagine Agents#1  is the toss up this week, I say grab a copy because BOOM books are lower ordered. It could definitely be a sleeper hit.

Two books I have not listed: Blood Hound: Crowbar Medicine #1 and S.H.O.O.T First #1 are not part of my list this week and I won’t pick these up right away. As both these are Dark Horse books, they don’t appeal to me. Secondly Blood Hound: Crow Bar Medicine is a limited series, and as you already know from my past posts, I steer away from them as they don’t fare so well in the after market.

Until Next Week…

D-
