EScape from Jesus Island about to get covered on CNN this weekend? Keep you eyes peeled

Well it is about time. We talked about this one a while back and had hoped something like this would occur. We had hoped that Escape from Jesus Island would get some kind of press attention that would stir controversy, that would bring even more demand for this wickedly cool book. Copies of the Phantom Variant had been selling well for $12 upon release and then moved slightly lower to $9. The book only had a print run of 3,000 regular copies and 3,000 Phantoms. Well, according to comic book money, CNN is running a story on Escape from Jesus Island this Sunday. Hopefully it will cause a reaction that makes people scramble for the book. 1. I had totally forgot about this one. Just picked up a few before they do vanish, then reappear for way more! 🙂

  2. Hi Anthony. Followed news of Escape From Jesus Island since first learning about it & am thrilled to now have a few copies of the Phantom Edition. It seems impossible to get hold of the regular edition outside of the U.S. though & of course shipping charges coming out of the States is ridiculously high today !. Do you happen to know if the regular version of the comic book was allocated shipments outside of the States ?. If there are only 6000 editions in total then this truly is a title that could explode big time.
Is there any word on when book two will come out & in what numbers / variants, Anthony ?.
Will this stick to the intended mini series or perhaps continue on after the opening story arc ?. Interesting things ahead for Escape From Jesus Island I strongly suspect.

    1. There were two versions initially, the Kickstarter, which I imagine, copies made it outside the US. That one was limited to 3000 copies, of which 800 went to backers of the crowd source initiative. It left 2200 to make it into the wild in their own.
Larry, from larryscomics.net picked it up for a phantom variant so it could be distributed to stores, less than 50 would get them as that was how many are in the Phantom Network. Larry previously helped distribute my favorite book Sacrifice. No word on number 2 yet. I am hoping they use a similar distribution channel in Larry’s Phantom Network but that remains to be seen and I am not informed on whether it will work that way or not. As for variants, again, I am unsure how they will work out.

    2. I will have an interview up later this week with the Writer Shawn French. They are doing more mini-series story arcs after the first one. The second issue will be out in May and will also have a Phantom Variant.

      1. Anthony, that is great news. I look forward to reading your Interview.
It could well be that before that second issue hits people are clammerinng for the first issue & the comic book is a major hit,not to mention worth a tidy sum 😉 .
Hopefully getting hold of a regular copy of issue #2 & books to follow are also readilly available. Over here in the UK I have not seen or heard news pertaining to issue #1 regular cover at all !. Absolutely delighted to have got in early with the forward motion on Escape From Jesus Island & bagged a few copies of the Cool Phantom Variant.
A Huge Thank You in large part to your Excellent work & sharing right here Anthony 🙂 .

  3. Snagged 5 Phantoms for $7 a pop…EXCITED ABOUT THAT! On the lookout for a few reg covers for a decent price.
I balked on these comics when CHU peeped them months ago. I have to say that it was because of the content (name as well). Tough call on this one for me, but hey ho, it’s just a comic book…

    1. Please do let us know if you are successful in locating any Regular issues in the UK. I have not seen anything on them at all & would also like to be able to pick up at least one of them to go with my Phantom variant. Thanks.

  4. I have read it. If you are religious it will not be for you. Except it does accept the premise that Jesus was real and was the Messiah. From there his DNA is cloned off the shroud of Turin. I think religious folks can appreciate that the book, which is a horror, accepts the premise that Jesus was real and the messiah and that the shroud of Turin was his burial shroud. Now the horror comes from the clone mistakes which are not perfect clones.
I thought it was a great read but i am not Christian and I do love horror. But as you said, to each their own.

  5. Thank you with regards to your efforts on the regular issue comic book. I would definitely be interested should you come up trumps 🙂 .
With regards to the content & title of the comic book, I think that your points & concerns are very valid, but also your dissimination between business, pleasure & personal beliefs is a contemporarily applied methodology that seems most sensible.
I think that the CNN coverage over the weekend is going to most likely attack the comic book full on & quite likely call for comic book codes to be looked into / updated etc. For the wrong reason Escape From Jesus Island will then be propelled into immediate notoriety. Good or very bad possibly for investors, as if a mob witch hunt means a collector fears for his life in offering the book up for sale.
The subject matter on a purely science fiction level makes for facinating material & had the creators used a fictional representation of the obvious, then likely the comic book would have been largely overlooked, bringing about a small flow of busy banter from horror lovers & hard core collectors eager to uncover what follows next.
If the comic book comes across as being intentionally created to offend then it is doomed to failure & that would be a line overstepped that casts a dark shadow over the industry. Let’s hope that this is not the case, but indeed a comic book for a mature audience that poses a ‘What If’ scenario, that ultimately delivers amidst its outrageousness a positive note between its irreverent veneer. Time will tell, and ultimately I would like to think that readers good taste will also prevail.

  6. Hey guys, go to Jesusisland.com for $3.99 regular issues, or $6.99 signed regulars plus shipping which is $4 give or take. Anthony is right, once this hits CNN, the book will triple or more from interest or just piqued curiosity. Hope this helps. Thanks!

  7. I got myself two copies, when it came out and speculated heavily on it. This will be a huge comic. It is has a pretty decent story and a heavy twist at the end. The covers are controversial, but if you’ve read the actual book- this is what’s going to get some groups and arms about. For a speculator, this could be THE 2014 book thus far. Glad it didn’t go away and is getting publicity, whatever kind that may be.
