Powerpuff Girls #6 Subscription cover, one to keep an eye on

The other day bleeding cool ran a story on Powerpuff Girls #6 Subscription cover from IDW. The story stated there was a bit of controversy about the way the girls are drawn.
Normally, the girls are gooey blobs of animation, around age 7 or so. But on the cover, they are drawn as thigh high wearing teens. In other words, the Powerpuff Girls have been sexualized. No plans at the moment for the cover to be pulled but if enough out cry comes out it could happen, in fact stranger things have happened. Needless to say the book, out 2/12/14, could be one to keep an eye on. If something does come of it, especially after it is released, you could turn for a pretty profit. And if nothing comes out of it, you may be sitting on a creepy collectible.
Update: This book was canceled due to the negative press.

  1. No the creepy part is men in their forties going to the comic shop and buying Power Puff Girls comic books. lol

    1. I’m not in my forties but I did pick one up once to see if my little one would like it, which she didn’t show much interest, My Little Pony is the preferred comic currently by the little one.

  2. Ok folks, your wish is the CARTOON NETWORK’S command! They have just announced that they (CN) are indeed pulling the controversial Yoon Subscription cover for Powerpuff Girls #6 BEFORE release on 2/12/2014!

What does this mean to the comics community? Who knows, but I have an order in at one of my favorite European outlets for 20 copies at 3.35 Euro each! Can get at least 10 more!!!!!!
I don’t know if IDW will be allowed to print ANY copies, and certainly don’t know if any will actually hit the streets?
What’s the best case senario for this situation…..COMMUNITY??????

    1. They would have to have been printed already. The logistics of getting a comic printed and out to the distributor would be too great in a short time. I have a collection of recalled comics that were not supposed to hit the streets and were recalled weeks in advanced including a Phonogram 5, the anti-Semite wolverine, Scooby Doo and others.

  3. Yea, I’m just wondering if ANY of the orders from the various retailers will be filled from IDW, with the ban from CN now in effect?
So, are you saying that it’s probably too late for CN to stop any books from hitting the streets, or do you think all the ones that have been printed up until the ban will still be sold to the public, but no more will be produced?
Just trying to see if there will be a ‘rare’ factor to the books that actually hit the streets.
Just curious, as I’m already in bed for 20 copies if the retailer gets his books from the distributor, who has to actually get the books from IDW.
Also, what was the ‘intended’ print run on the Subscription cover of Powerpuff Girls #6, and how can we find out how many, if any, actually hits the streets?

    1. Since the book is out next week or in two weeks I believe they have already been printed. They may have even made their way to Diamond. Books like this have made it into the wild before. Not sure if this one will but stranger things have happened.
