Man, tonight’s The Walking Dead episode was intense. I mean really intense. It has been a slow season, if you look back. The Governor was the “big bad” this season, a rehash from last, well up until the mid season break. This has been more character driven than others. We did see Rosa, Eugene, and Abraham appear, and the issue they appear in, The Walking Dead #53, went up in price.
The last issue of The Walking Dead was also intense. The Walking Dead #123 saw Rick taking an arrow to the back from Dwight. Not sure if it was coated in zombie gunk yet, that remains to be seen. Also not sure that zombie gunk really does anything. The point has always been, the bites cause infection, the infection is what kills you, anyone who dies comes back (barring a head shot.)
So things are looking pretty grim in the comic. The cover to Walking Dead #124 doesn’t really give away much other than the assault continues.
Issue 125’s cover shows Jesus fighting zombies and Andrea taking aim. Negan does not seem concerned.
Walking Dead issue 126 is the conclusion of All Out War and has Carl and Michonne protecting Negan from someone in the shadow looking like they want to put the zombie infected beat down with Lucille.
Finally, issue 127 features none of the beloved characters and has been solicited as “In the aftermath of ‘ALL-OUT WAR’ we discover…A NEW BEGINNING. ”
I have been kind of leaning towards the death of Rick coming up, but not 100% sure. What I do know is, Negan has been stated as being introduced in the TV show, and I would imagine that All Out War would be brought into the show as well. In fact, the second half of this season the cast has been moving towards a sanctuary. If this turns out to be an introduction to Negan, than this whole story line could go up. The Walking Dead #100 is Negan’s first appearance, but with so many printed, I cannot see this being too sought after.
I still buy multiple copies of The Walking Dead every month (every two weeks now), as well as, copies of pre-100 when I come across them. I think there is still a lot of spec left in the new issues of this book.

I agree with you that there are a lot of prints of 100 but intro to Negan will be sought after in time. My spec senses tells me the full cover of Negan #100 2nd print will be the one to collect above all other regular covers of 100. That classic pose of him with a smile and Lucille are fantastic. They are avail pretty cheap so why not?
Yup, I think the print run for the 2nd print is around 22k as well, very small considering the 1st print run was well over 300k. I’ve considered this 2nd printing variant as the key issue to collect for Negan as well since it’s not the shadowy figure from the 1st printing or the 2nd print main issue that forms the covers into one big picture of Negan holding Lucille. I’ve been buying these when I see them.
I might have to get a couple more of these. Last time I looked at Hastings, they had several of the 2nd prints for cover price I think.
I thought the same thing…I’ve already picked up a few copies of the 2nd print at cover or below. Also working on getting at least one copy of each of the variants of the 1st printing.
I don’t think there is a chance of issue 100 going up in value really at all. First off, yes there were way to many copies printed Plus by the time issue 100 came out, every walking dead fan was buying the comic each month. I think the only walking dead comics that have any chance of increasing in value are below issue 80. Anything above 80 people already knew to buy them each month and buy multiple. With issue 100, you can still buy these at some comic book stores anyways for face value. The issue you want to get is issue 61. This is the first appearence of Gabriel and I would guess he will be showing up next season, just like issue 53 jumping up in price, issue 61 would be a good idea to get now.
I agree about Walking Dead, but my focus is pre-100. You mentioned pre-80 but I would have to point to issue #92 already being up there.
That is a good point with issue 92. For sure though nothing above issue 100 will be worth anything due to the size of the prints and just the fact that every person and their mother at that point was buying the comic each month and buying more than one copy. Even if Negan is the next villain, his first appearance maybe will go for $15.00 but it for sure will not get up to $100 like issue 53 just did. I cannot point this out enough, the Negan cover you can still get at some stores for face value, just like Wiley said in a post above – Hastings as a few for cover price. Why would a comic jump up in price at all if anyone can walk into a store and pay cover for it?
The funny thing is we are saying the same thing. If you go back and reread what I wrote I said I can’t see the first appearance of Negan in issue 100 going up as it was so heavily printed.
Oh I know we are in agreement, I was more saying it because of the other comments on here. The other 4 people were saying they are trying to get more copies of 100. I was just trying to let them know to not waste their time. I could be proven wrong later down the road, but it’s just not something i will be putting money into.
