This is a really big week for comics. There is a ton of stuff on the spec-radar. Last week was big too though, I picked up 23 different books out of my hold folder at the local comic shop. This week is all about returning favorites. Here are the books to look forward to this week.
Walking Dead #124– Getting closer and closer to the end of All Out War. I catch a lot of flack for recommending the book as much as I do because it is so heavily printed now, but I still think it is a good bet.
Black Science #5 Man this book keeps getting better and better. Early adopters of this series will end up reaping the rewards as more and more people pick it up.
Bunker #2 The double sized first issue sold out and was going for mutiples of cover price. Looking forward to this awesome new book.
Dead Body Road #3 If Tarantino wrote the Punisher, you would have Dead Body Road. Good revenge book.
George Romero’s Empire Of Dead Act One #3 It’s Romero! (but has cheesy looking vampires)
Manhattan Projects #19 Still a great series, even though many speculators dropped it due to the delay with earlier issues.
Revenge #2 The first issue hooked me with the over the top bloodshed and gratuitous nudity. Looking forward to see where this is going.
Sandman Overture #2 Heavily delayed second issue to Gaiman’s Sandman return.
Sheltered #8 Loving this book. The announced movie deal in the back of the last issue was nice to see, but was reported months ago by web sites. I still love getting news from the letter column.
Wake #7 Loved the book at the beginning, loved it even more after the jump to the future story line, Scott Snyder does not disappoint.
Wraith, Welcome to Christmasland #5 This book has been delightfully twisted. Started off strong, and then slowed down some, but with last issue, really picked up the pace again.
Not returning favorites, but favorite characters:
Silver Surfer #1 Mike Allred art, cannot pass up. Wish he would do more creator owned stuff again. I miss Madman.
All New Ghost Rider #1 Got a preview copy of this and it is good. I love Tradd Moore’s art, and he really shows off his eye for design with this book.

Yay! Silver Surfer!
Curious if Bunker #2 will sell out as quickly as #1.
Bunker #2 is already sold out in advance at diamond
Any chance all new ghost rider could be the next hawkeye?
I liked it a lot, but it is a very different book than Hawkeye. I would look towards the new She-hulk for stories in the vein of Hawkeye.
The first Ghost Rider introduces a new spirit of vengeance. The story was solid but the art is over the top cool. It is hard to draw a car chase but Moore makes it work.
I love that animal cover of ghost rider…
I’m looking forward to Silver Surfer. He was one of the few child hood favorites of mine.
Walking Dead is always a good bet, always buy two copies if you can. Black Science is just awesome. Bunker is a good bet and awesome story. Sheltered is great, pick up #1s of this if you can. I still find them at my local shops at cover price, I think these will only heat up if they continue with the movie.
Manhattan Projects to me is under appreciated. It’s one of my must reads each month.
Also, since it didn’t make your list, I’m looking forward to Rocky and Bullwinkle from IDW. 🙂
Interesting choice Drew. Not really my cuppa as I never really liked watching it as a kid and my dad’s love for it and fascination with “Whattsamatta U” always kind if baffled me.
Yeah, probably not a choice for everyone but I loved watching it as a kid.
