Dwayne Johnson ✔ @TheRock
Myself & DC have agreed on a character.. extremely complex, well known (but never played) and a pure BAD ASS MF;) #RockTalk .@ThomasEspin
Is what the Rock, Dwayne Johnson tweeted out the other day. Dwayne Johnson had been in talks to play the popular, and really bad ass character Lobo previously. Could be the Rock will play Lobo. Time to start looking at the very affordable Key Lobo first appearance issue Omega Men #3. Prices are currently in the $10-$15 range. If this comes to fruition, this could be a big book. I know many spec-ers are already scooping up copies of Omega Men #3

Just picked up two at 12 bucks per. Great tip. Thanks
It is a solid buy even if the movie ends up falling flat.
I’m not too familiar with Lobo. Is this movie going to be popular?
Lobo has his fans, The rock has his. even if it is a clunker, the movie alone could have people crossing over the genre’s to get books it could be based off.
Thanks. I grew up Marvel and understand the popularity of most characters (including minor ones). DC is a little unfamiliar.
There were some writers and artists that took the character from being a lame space Wolverine rip-off and really gave him life. I am thinking of the work of Simon Bisley alone.
For those who care the cover to Omega Men 3 is printed in the back of issue 2. This is similar to ASM 359 which printed the first image of Carnage ( Cover to 361 ) after the letters column.
Bisley’s Lobo is great! I’ve had Omega Men #3 for years. Plus, the 99 cent 1st issue, Lobo 4-ish mini-series from the 90’s is a solid, solid spek-set to own as well. My Lobo books are still NM after all of these years!
Issue #1 of the 90’s mini is a new origin for Lobo, so don’t forget to grab this mini if you are a completest spek’er…LIKE ME!
SPEK WARNING: There have been numerous production companies over the years that have approached DC regarding a Lobo movie / tv show, but for some reason, ALL of the plans have fallen flat…hmmmmmmm! A bit of a red flag for me!
As far as I’m concerned, I’m glad I already own the Lobo books, but I would be just a wee bit cautious if I were spek’in, and planning on splashing out big bucks to nab a CGC 9.8 or a raw NM copy.
SOMETHING ABOUT LOBO MAKES THE PUBLIC A BIT NERVOUS, IMHO! Content maybe?
But if Lobo is done right, and with the right cast (the Rock certainly fits the bill), then the movie could be a nice, gritty surprise hit!
We’ll see…
For the record, I’ve always been a HUGE Lobo fan. Like Flipper said, the combo of Keith Giffen (creator), Alan Grant (writer on the mini), and Simon Bisley (artist on the mini), the book-art is fantastic, and the stories are VERY, VERY entertaining!
LOBO DOES INDEED KICK BUTT!

Also, be aware of 2nd printings of the mini-series. Folks may not know they are selling a 2nd print.

ALSO, if you want the 1ST FULL LOBO STORY, it’s in Omega Men #10!
It’s available for peanuts right now!

Rare cheap Lobo comics, check out Omega Men #37 (scarce, 1st solo Lobo story, 1st Alan Grant story) LEGION 89 #3 and 4(1st modern Lobo pre-Lobo mini series) .
Lobo was a character that was red-hot in the nineties, and a lot of those casual speculators may once again want this book, with potential movie talk. It really is always the antiheroes/villains Sabretooth, Lobo, Venom that keep the nineties nostalgia alive and well. Time to get a copy of Omega Men #3 (that ugly bondage cover and all) issue cheap in high grade.
