So we have run the breakdown a couple of times. But what is the rarest Variant for Amazing Spider-man #1?
Remember, there were 700,000 copies of the book sold. So if we were to extrapolate the number out hey would look like this:
1 in 50 = 14,000 copies = $40
1 in 100 = 7,000 copies = $70
Gamestop Variant = 6,000 copies = $200
1 in 200 = 3,500 copies = around $100
1 in 300 = 2,333 copies = around $300
So if there was a rarer variant, say a 1 in 467 version, with a print run of 1500 copies, you would expect it to go for higher, right?
There was one, one that went on sale this past weekend on Free Comic Book Day for $9.99 and was presold before FCBD for $14.99.
The Amazing Spider-man that was limited to 1,500 copies is the Amazing Spider-man #1 Hastings Sketch Variant. The book is currently going for $30 on eBay. The Amazing Spider-man #1 Hastings Sketch Variant
could be the copy to own as it is the rarest of the bunch, just looking at the numbers.

Brave New Worlds also has their own store exclusive sketch variant they’re selling in their shops for $30. Could be the rarest one because who will pay their inflated prices?

Hastings was also having a sale on FCBD of buy 2 get 1 free for all bagged/boarded comics. I managed to snag 3 copies of ASM #1 B&W variant because they honored it for this issue as well. So I paid $9.99 for 2, got the third free, sold all 3 today for $84. Not bad if I do say so myself.

The Hastings Sketch Variant is just ugly though.. Seems most on eBay shot up in price too.. unless you got this for $14.99 or less, not worth it..

Hasting Cover is ugly. Thus why it is also cheaper. Even if it is more rare, it is in a flood of choices.
Ive never seen a comic book in any Gamestops around me. Would it be worth calling the local Gamestops and seeing if they have the spider-man variant? Or is it a online only thing thats already sold out?
No it’s part of their rewards program. I don’t think you will ever see them in the stores.
