Satellite Sam Tijuana Bible: ask for it at your LCS

I have always liked Howard Chaykin. He has done some seriously subversive stuff in the past with Black Kiss, Black Kiss II, and with Matt Fraction on Satelite Sam.
Today, local comic shops will receive a bit of subversiveness in the way of Satellite Sam Tijuana Bible. A Tijuana Bible was a small, often copy write infringing, porn comic made years ago. Fraction and Chaykin are releasing one as an order incentive to stores who stock Satellite Sam. These could be free if you ask. You may have to pay a couple of bucks for them. Your retailer might just want to get rid of them if they do not carry adult themed books. These could be hot and hard to find. They are banned in the UK, so sorry to my friends over there.
Bleeding Cool has run a couple articles about it you can read here and here. Remember fortune favors the bold so do not be too shy to pass this up. I put in emails to my LCS last night requesting one for my personal collection.

        1. Yeah it’s crazy. I haven’t checked to see if they are turning up on eBay yet. It can be looked at as one of two ways it was not invoiced by Diamond so those who got it did not pay for it, much like the junk Marvel sends out. So it could be seen as a promo. But it was also an order incentive because it was to reward retailers for ordering Satellite Sam (which I read anyway) I paid $4.99 for mine but feel a little jaded because I subscribe to the book through my LCS

      1. I used to read it. I lost interest after issue 3. Not sure why, I guess it just wasn’t my cuppa tea.

      2. Yeah, I stopped picking up Satellite Sam after #4.. I picked up this copy though with the Tijuana Bible..
I hit the last local comics store in my area and they were selling it all by itself for $24.95. Glad I was able to snag one for retail that actually came with a Satellite Sam #8 for $3.50

      3. Two are currently listed in eBay – One for $25 and the other $50. I just listed mine that includes #1, #8 and the Tijuana Bible at a low starting bid price of $3.50.. πŸ˜‰

      4. Yeah, I was surprised it’s only 4 pages and yet retail places are selling them for $30 already. The local shop I picked mine up at had a limit or I would have picked up a few, but they only had probably 10 total from the looks of it.

  1. They’re out of stock already at grahamcrackers. Midtown had it listed for $30 but its out of stock. Mycomicshop doesn’t have it listed. Is $30 how much LCS are asking for this??

      1. Yeah, I can understand if the demand on the aftermarket is there but on the day it’s available, shame on retailers trying to charge for something that was suppose to be free essentially with the comic.

      2. free to the retailer. they run a business, as we all here have $ on the mind. charging 5-10$ is ok. 30$ would be crazy. But that is the reason for the incentive. What good is it if they can’t make a buck from it? Its not free comic book day.

      3. Yeah, a few bucks isn’t bad but retailers charging $30 for 4 pages of horribly drawn porn cartoons.. come on, that’s a freaking lap dance right there.. πŸ˜‰

      4. Stupid inflation.. I actually not sure of prices, strip clubs were never my thing (plus I’m sort of OCD when it comes to germs – other people germs).

    1. Meh, I think once you see one, feel it and read it.. it’s really nothing special. They’re so small and flimsy, they really do seem like they were made from a really crappy old printer. But yeah, don’t pay $30 for it unless it’s mine… πŸ˜‰

      1. My listing includes Satellite Sam #1, #8 and the Tijuana Bible, current bid at $3.50. πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks for the tip! I called my LCS to see if they had it, and the next day, they had it in my subscription box…and only charged me a dollar!
