  1. Dang shame they don’t combine shipping. $4.99 plus $3.99 each. Still a nice buy if it is only a 800 print run.

    1. They have become ridiculous with their shipping. I did once link through to their variants on their store, but when they went from .99 cent shipping to their new pricing structure, I stopped. It is fine for 1 book to pay $3.99, that is common (I charge $3.99 for 1-3 books on ebay and thru CHU) but to not combine shipping on eBay is just bad form. Still, $9 for a pretty rare book is not bad as a total price.

      1. And Hastings shipping practices are terrible. I have returned more books due to damage than I have kept. You would think that they would learn to package a little better!

      2. Ray, Hastings probably doesn’t view comics as collectors items, just periodicals. They simply don’t care about condition or spending the extra money to securely pack the comics when shipping. Even though it doesn’t take much to pack securely. Just doing what Midtown does with the stiff cardboard mailers that adds inches of cushion/padding around the comic usually does the job. I’ve only had one issue once with Midtown but I could tell the comic was damaged before shipment, no bends, but tons of spine creases/stresses and the other comic shipped with it was fine.

      3. Also there’s a good chance Enormous won’t be easily damaged though, have you felt it’s cover? I had a hard time getting one in a Current Comic back with normal cardboard backing it was so thick.. 🙂

    2. Buy from their online site then, I just picked up 2 with both having only the $3.98 shipping. Whoever is doing their eBay listings probably just doesn’t know what they’re doing.
I’ve been wondering when these would go live to nab a few, especially when I saw someone trying to sell it with a BIN price on eBay at $24.99.

      1. I love Midtown and their shipping. ANd they will replace the books if damaged in shipping. Hastings only offers refunds.
I have not felt the cover yet though, going to pick up my copies today. I guess we will see with Hastings. I have never bought from their ebay store. Always their online store. Every time the packing is different!

      2. Packaging probably changes by who’s working the warehouse that day more than likely. The postman would have to be really hard on the package to damage these though, the covers are pretty thick for this Enormous (unless the Hastings is different from the others, which I doubt).

        1. I have gotten the A the B and the Phantom and the paper quality is exactly the same on all three covers. Not sure that the Hastings would switch that up. The only variant I have come across with a different paper stock is the Third Eye Variant for Black Dynamite. It had better paper stock than the regular version.

      3. Yeah, I wouldn’t think they would switch it up (cover stock) since they’re likely all printed at the same printing press/publisher, etc.

    3. I was only charged 2.49 for shipping, but how bad is it? Do the comics even come bagged and boarded?

  2. Good tip! Anthony, do you know what the print run is for Spread #1?I know it has store variants and what not but I’m surprised that it doesn’t have so much as a cover B for the regular release. That might be good for rarity’s sake.

      1. I think he was talking about the total print run for Spread next week.
But yeah, Enormous will have a small print run for sure. The local shops that did have copies were less than 10 and I get there when they first open (of course I don’t know how many the put in people’s weekly pull but some people don’t add new comics to their pulls without viewing first, at least the people I know).

  3. I doubt Spread will be only 15K for #1 overall orders. Thats on the very low end for print runs for a new Image #1. But I will admit I wish I had ordered more than I did but we’ll see what happens. But it is sold out in advance of release at Diamond.

    1. Mondo # 3 was released on August 2012, the Enormous One-shot was released early July 2012,so i would say Mondo 3 is not 1st appearance.
