We had previously mentioned that Robert Kirkman’s new book, Outcast, had sold out. There was much speculation about what the print run would end up being. The print run was even more tentative due to the fact the book was fully returnable.
Outcast, sold out, partially due to being a Kirkman book, but also due to the pending media deal that it had in place before the book was even released. Copies of Outcast sell briskly at $10-15 on eBay even though people report seeing them on their local store shelves still (I have been picking them up as I come across them).
Needless to say, even though the book was fully returnable, the print run of 86,000 copies made it out to the stores with none being returned.
An Outcast second printing will be released July 23rd.

UNDER 100k printed are you KIDDING me this is AMAZING news. I’m going to start buying all I can and hold long term. While watching the slow uptrend and accumulation cycle play out.
doesn’t anybody else feel like the top is in for this book? seriously…I bought one book and just sold it today for 7 bucks on ebay. Even though there are sales out there, I would say they’re drying up.. no?
The only reason I’d say pick up any you can for retail and hold onto them is the gambling that the show actually makes it to people’s screens, it becomes popular with more fans who then seek out the comics. That’s really the only way I see this one becoming more valuable.
Heh, the top? You’re funny. It’s not even out a month yet. It’s by no means the top. But I wouldn’t expect the price to just zoom up. It will be a long slow process of accumulation. Sure you see a ton of books being listed but they will all dry up soon as they go into long boxes without the idea of bringing them out. So for now you will see 5 and 10 lot copies but they will slowly disappear as they are locked up into strong holders.
true Drew, it’s just that print run. seems to big and should that happen I would imagine ebay would be absolutely flooded with copies driving all prices down.
Well, take a look at Saga, it’s #1 was around the 40k range and it commands a strong $80-$100 currently. So if the demand is there and Outcast ends up on our screens, gains popularity, demand can keep these going strong. I initially picked up 2 copies myself but after seeing them sell for $15 when they’re still sitting on shelves, I picked up a few more to just store, small price gamble that might pay off in the long run. 🙂
ebay was/is flooded with copies. yet demand was/is still strong.
You should take your 7$ and go search out stores and get 2 copies. Then sell those. Then get 4 copies. Then maybe get 40$ for those and go get 15 copies (because you make a deal with the guy at the counter 15 for 40$. then you sell 10 of those and keep 5 long term, u sell the 10 for 100$ and go search out and get 35 copies. you keep 15 and sell 20. now you have 20 in storage and another 20 for sale. eventually you will not be able to do this as they dry up in stores.
This is just an example btw.
I just flipped outcast 1 and the walking dead 127 for $15 as a lot on ebay took 3 days and still have another one up there as a lot for $20 & if I sell this one also it will pay for the 10 copies of each book I got. Not a bad investment. Flip a few to pay for the books cost & hold onto the rest & see where they go.
House money brother. That is the way to play these things. Sell enough to cover your costs and you can always profit more later. See a downward trend in price and you can still sell, for a profit.
