Larry's Comics Pick of the Week for 7/30/14

Larry from Larry’s Comics has been a the spec game a while. His picks have been on fire, picking the books no one sees coming, which in turn, have been heating up on the secondary market. Here is this weeks, for delivery 7/30/14

Greg Hellinger is a man who sees monsters. A former detective driven to the brink of madness by terrifying apparitions, he is tasked with finding a missing girl named Emily. Hellinger’s search takes him to a remote community in the Scottish Orkney Islands, where strange and terrifying things are happening. Features a variant cover by artist Riley Rossmo (Bedlam, Drumheller).
WHY?
#1- It has a microscopic print run. Most shops will not have it this Wednesday. Just under 3k copies were printed. 2,300 ordered by Diamond.
Three covers: A & B & my shop variant ltd to 250. I know that I have a “chip” in this game because of my variant, but I ordered the variant because of the high quality of the material. I also drew the variant. It’s the first in a series of covers that I will illustrate: Lariants.
#2-Obscure publisher that few shops order. It’s not just “Indy” , it’s alternative. Try & find one Wednesday in the wild. You’ll have to go online, I bet.
#3- The art & story will appeal to some of the most diehard fanbases: Horror & JTHM.
#4- The first two issues were self-published in black and white in Scotland. Will add to collectors demand, and give collectors and speculators something to hunt for.
I have the inside track that there is MORE than the mini in the works…
( I hate mini series as speculator-y plays)

  2. I haven’t been able to update my site in months. I’m dumb. Working on a new website that shouls amaze by fall. If you know anybody in the area send them by. With only 250, I’m limiting to walk ins at cover price. My wife will list some on her Ebay acct thecomicmarketnh.

  8. If your LCS doesn’t order Comix Tribe books I suggest asking them to do so. Epic #1 by them was awesome. When ones kryptonite is hot chicks it makes for an awesome read. Be a awesome movie! Wake up Hollywood!
