Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to it, some don’t. We go through the listings of books coming out and give our picks for the ones we think will heat up.
The big release for the week:
Low #1– It always makes me nervous when people throw around the phrase “the next Saga” but Rick Remender’s new series Low could be it. Look for an instant sell out, and try to find nm copies of the SDCC pre-released variant could be difficult as there is reported printer damage to most of the print run.
The new Vertigo Noir:
Bodies #1– Yes it is a mini-series. It looks awesome and different. Vertigo has been hitting it out of the park lately and many books have been picked up for movies. This mini, in my estimation, seems ripe for a deal.
The rare Marvel to make the list:
100th Anniversary Special: Guardians of the Galaxy– Well timed release of a book featuring the Guardians name, rocket Raccoon, and a movie coming out soon (what? you didn’t hear) could make this special be sought after.
The new story line that could pick up new readers:
Black Science #7– New storylines are always great places for new readers to jump in. Also, it is following up the release of the first TPB, which recent readers can easily switch to floppy copies.
My overall pick of the week:
Sally of the Wasteland #1– Small press book that could appeal to many. Titan Press has had a few hits on it’s hands already. Small print run to almost be guaranteed. The apocalypse has come and gone, leaving behind a ravaged landscape of wreckage and mutant crawfish. Still, you gotta laugh, and Sally does, often using her beloved shotgun as the punchline! Inspired more by lust than common sense, Sally leaves her bar job and joins the deranged crew of the Mississippi Duchess on a mission into the ruins of New Orleans. Saving the remnants of civilization plays second best to keeping her sweetheart Tommy safe as our smart and sexy princess of the wild frontier runs a gauntlet of gigantic genetic freaks and roving gangs of blood-hungry barbarians!

Thats it for us, let us know what you are spec-ing on.

I’m looking forward to Low #1. I’m also looking forward to Chew Warrior Chicken Poyo #1 as well, if you love Chew, you’ll be picking this one up for sure.
Brass Sun #3 and Evil Empire #3 are some others I’ve enjoyed so far as well. It’s been a few months since Evil Empire #2, hopefully it’s not too much delayed between issues.
I’m with u on Evil Empire, whether it holds value or not, loved the first 2 issues. I must see where it is going
I like Evil Empire. I actually like a lot of what Boom puts out.

For some reason, reading your reply reminded me of this clip.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28GLa9T2CtI
π
I like it. I like it a lot.
Thanks. My hair is slightly better than in that clip π
Yeah, doesn’t take much to beat Lloyd’s hair style..
hahahahah classic.
So you’re saying I have a chance.
Bodies 1:13 Finch variant is the one to grab
Yeah that cover looks good.
My shop didn’t have the Poyo Warrior Chicken 1 Shot.. I didn’t get a chance to check out the other nearby shop. I just nabbed it and the SDCC Foil convention limited variant on eBay. Anyone else have issues finding this one in their local shops?
Neither of my lcs had any copies either. π
Mine had them. If anyone needs them let me know and I can get them for you.
I swung by the other shop, they had about 5 left so I nabbed two more from the one I already bought online. Midtown and TFAW seem to be sold out already as well.
Which book drew
Chew Chicken Warrior One Shot
I picked it up. Once again I am so far behind in my reading I have to get to it. Seriously I need to stop buying for a week.
I’ve replied to your last reply Anthony and it hasn’t shown up.. perhaps stuck in the moderation queue?
