I love when the new comic print run numbers come out. Especially when they come in lower than expected. Sure, there are books coming in with huge print runs (relatively speaking compared to years ago) but the good ones seem to have small print runs.
In fact, the bottom 10 books on Chomichron’s list this month are all books worth looking at. This is a selection of books we have talked about over the last month.
(This list goes from lowest print run up)
Southern Dog #1 1,439- Two covers, unsure what the ratio was. (Looking at you Hoknes for the ratio) This was a good werewolf book.
Brainstorm #1 1,448- I only put this on the list because it was mentioned in a “looking ahead
article” there was also a retailer promo issue that went out that is super rare”
Hugh Howey's Wool #2 1,596- First issue popped and is going for good money. 2nd issue really
rare, about 1000 fewer copies than #1
Face Value #1 1,735- was one of the hottest books this month. The autism awareness book was
really hard to find and popped in value.
Enormous #3 1,847- Numbers keep coming in low for the first few issues. People cannot find these
which is a shame for such a great book. Rarest of the series, with two covers.
Zombie Tramp #1 Ongoing 2,190- Cheeky fun book. Low print runs. Had multiple covers including a
Phantom Variant
Enormous #2 2,244- see above
Strain Night Eternal #1 9,394- fodder for the 3rd season of the now hit TV show
Spread #2 15,244- really great book. Saw copies of the book on sale at Baltimore for $10
Bob's Burgers #1 20,157- Spread out among several variants
As a note, two books came in this month over 100,000 copies, Batman 34 and Amazing Spider-Man #5

Keep your eyes open on Jeremy Holt’s work of Southern Dog. Jeremy is in an early stages of Black Flags and what little has been released looks awesome. Repeat; Black Flags.
Elaborate please
You’ve got mail!
Brainstorm was surprisingly good.
As good as the Elvis Special with a fried egg at Chuy’s?
Haha.. maybe. Some might not think so though.. 😉
Don’t have Chuy’s here yet but they are coming to Dc Md area
Now I’m hungry and want Chuy’s!
Do you guys know the difference in print run of the self published and published version of Face Value? I think that the self published has $5.00 on the cover…which seems to be impossible to find compared to the version without the $5.00 price.
Hi Matthew and welcome. Since it was not distributed thru Diamond comics distributors there is no way to know besides asking the published. Several copies have popped up on ebay of the $5 original cover and have gone for good money.
Just asked em’ 🙂 I’ll let you guys know what they say! BTW – Love the site!!
Thanks man glad you are here.

Face Value = I could be mistaken but I thought the copies I got from Diamond had the $5.00 cover price – but they are all sold now. Southern Dog is very cool. I have copies of both covers left.
Just received this response from Face Value Comics:
Our independently published book (shows $5.00 price on the cover) sold well since Christmas Eve last year. I believe we sold several hundred copies, mostly locally in the York, PA area. Through Diamond Comic Distributors, we’ve sold a couple of thousand issues. However, we’ve extended the ordering for Issue #1 this week, and sales are still being calculated.
Be sure to order Issue #2 while you’re at your favorite local comic store. This series will end with Issue #4…
…but wait- soon after we finish Michael’s story as a school-aged youth, we launch The Zephyr #1 as an ongoing series. Our hopes are to have this be a monthly title, looking at how Michael handles his challenges as a crime-fighting, Golden-Age comic book hero! We hope you’ll like it!
