Going way back to February, when we ran bit of spec, which we mentioned Carol Danvers Captain Marvel would be in Avengers Age of Ultron. Well the closer we get the more news come out, and will continue to come out.
Comic Book Movie ran a piece stating Captain Marvel, who has been rumored on and off again from the movie, looks to be back on. They follow it up with a piece from Bleeding Cool, which states that even with low sales, Captain Marvel is not getting canceled. They also mention they think it is because of the movie appearance.
Time to re-look at the early appearances:
Her first appearance was in Marvel Superheroes #13. This was as Carol Danvers, also the second appearance of Captain Marvel.
Her origin was given in Marvel Superheroes #18, also the first appearance of the Guardians of the Galaxy (maybe there is a connection there.)
And of course her first solo book was Ms Marvel #1 1977

Yeah, I could never get into Captain Marvel. I think she’s great with guest appearances in other titles but I just couldn’t get into reading her own comic.
I thought Captain Marvel vol 1 #18 was sort of her origin story of how she became Ms Marvel, not Marvel Super Heroes 18. She gets bathed in Kree radiation in this comic which is used by Claremont in Ms Marvel vol 1 #1 to explain how she was given her powers.
Do you guys think that Captain Marvel vol. 7 #1 will be a hot speculation issue? It is the first appearance of Carol Danvers under the title Captain Marvel correct?
Chris, that was her first title as Captain Marvel, but it was Avenging Spider Man issue 9 where she makes her first appearance in the Captain Marvel outfit. I would seek out that over Capt Marvel vol 7 issue 1. Of course you can always grab both. One more note, there’s a B&W cover second printing of Avenging Spider Man 9.
