Xamot and Tomax to be in GI Joe #3, and a possible surprise addition

Thanks to Mel the Movie Guy for this one
Screen Rant and several other sources are reporting that the “evil twin brothers”, and leaders of the Crimson Guard, Xamot and Tomax are be looked at for the big bad(s) in the next installment of the GI Joe franchise.

According to Film Divider‘s studio sources, identical Corsican twins Tomax and Xamot are going to be the new bad guys in G.I. Joe 3. The former mercenaries are now merchant bankers who run Cobra’s corporate front, Extensive Enterprises, and also lead the Crimson Guard. They have an empathic bond that allows them to feel each other’s pain and communicate without talking, and they are almost perfect mirror images of one another (Xamot is the one with the scar).

The twins first appeared in comic book form back in GI Joe #37
Rumors also abound that Matt Trakker, leader of M.A.S.K (Mobile Armour Strike Kommand), another awesome 80’s toy line, may appear as well. Leaked images of a GI Joe style figure led to the initial rumor.

The other new character who will reportedly feature in the movie is M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) leader Matt Trakker, whose task force used specially equipped masks to help them combat the none-too-subtly named bad guy team V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem). It’s possible that Trakker’s involvement means that both M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M. will be on the scene in G.I. Joe 3, but he could also start out as part of the main team and perhaps splinter off to form his own group in future sequels.

MASK had it’s own series back in the 80’s in the self-titled M.A.S.K. However, before that, MASK appeared in the Justice League of America #242 according to Comic Vine. An insert for the comic appears in Legends #1 which also features the first appearance of Amanda Waller of Suicide Squad fame. This makes this book a double whammy.
