Enormous Print runs (not so enormous) and updated

  1. Im curious to know the difference between a second print and what is “considered to ve a second print”. Also, are things like ghost and phantom variants never considered to be a first print?

    1. Issues 2-3 might keep a demand. I just dumped two #3 issues for around $15 each. These will probably stay steady in the $15-$25 range I think for those completists who can easily get #1 but have a harder time finding #2-3 as people grab and stash for the personal collections.

    2. If the series grows and the TV show works and is successful, the first 6 will be highly sought after. I’m sitting on and will continue to sit on several copies of each regular cover from 1-6. I personally focused on issue 3B (the preying mantis cover) because my research suggest this is the lowest PR of all the regular covers. It probably had a distributed run between 650-800 while 3A was in the 1100 to 1200 range. I’m the kinda guy that likes the long haul and holds, so I’ll be sitting on mine for a while. Having bought all mine at cover or less, it’s not a big risk gamble for me either.

      1. I dumped mine. I made 3x the amount I paid so I’m good. I’m keeping copies for the personal collection though. The show was optioned but you never know at this point. The hype will make people jump now but we could end up never seeing the show or it’s released and it totally fails (which I don’t want to see) but it is a show that will require a lot of CGI.
Good luck to those that are holding out, I need to make space in my long boxes so I’m making money now! 🙂

  2. Without a doubt I see value in issues 2-6.
The trade that is being released alone will pick up more and more people looking to acquire the earlier issues. The artwork and story alone will keep the book at a nice above cover place.
Throw is a show and it’s a lock, even the show news has people looking for all of them now. Issues that introduce new characters are always nice to have as well (6).

    1. Think big! Issue 6=TWD Issue 19.
      Okay, that’s extremely big thinking.
I just support and believe in this series more than most associated to an announcement. It has all the key elements and already had a show made that really captured all that can be and more.

      1. Well if done right, it will attract Godzilla fans as well as the apocalyptic type fans. It’s pretty much a mixture of both. Huge monsters, end of the world type scenario.. people misbehaving against other people to survive.. what’s not to love?

  3. Sold off the last of my #1s this weekend, I paid cover or less for all of them when I got them. Buying myself a nice golden age book with the profits
