The recalled Bee and Puppycat recall mystery solved

We had reported way back, and got lots of questions on if the book was really recalled and why, that Bee and Puppycat #7 was recalled. We finally have an answer for those questions.
Thanks to Kevin W. for following up on this.
From Kevin, himself:

I finally have the scoop on this, at least a side by side comparison of the recalled vs reissue. To sum it up, the only thing the same between the two is the cover art… As shown in the pics (recalled always on top) the cover has an added “10 Year Anniversary Boom Studios” logo (except for virgin cover) which is the easiest way to tell.
The interior of the book is all new art, new lettering, speech bubbles, story headers, number of pages, and it looks like one of the story lines that was in the recalled issue was dropped…
I can’t speculate as to why this is so… Why they changed it so radically… But inside they are very different books. I’m sending a few, pics, each one is of exactly the same corresponding page…

    1. Not sure if they put out the wrong comic inside. It happens. If the are and story for another issue was already ready they could have slipped up. For example printed issue 9 inside issue 7 or so forth.

    1. Yeah, I think I know a place that left theirs out originally and even got the new shipment in. I already snagged cover A and B though. I skimmed when the new ones came out, sort of looked different but I couldn’t recall at the time.
According to sold issues, looks like one person sold a set of A and B for around $20. One has two listed for $120. I think once word is out, more will be on the look out and these might heat up, hard to tell.. not many listed with so very little sold already.

  1. I thought I was going crazy! I subscribe to bee and puppycat at a local comic book store and I went to go check my box to see if there was anything new. They gave me my “new” issue and the cover art seemed the same as last time. I asked them about it and they said that perhaps the same cover artist did this “new” issue but I swore to them I had it already. Miffed by obviously different stories I bought it and took it home. Come to find I had in fact bought 7 already. One thing that I noticed not mentioned above was that the copyright year was printed “February 2014” instead of “February 2015”. Could that be enough to recall them?

      1. Actually they had a Cover C as well didn’t they? Not sure how many made it out in the wild, the shop I got mine at had none (don’t think they ordered enough to get the 1:15 variant I think it was). But yeah, main difference from looking at these on the shelf is, new one has the 10 Year Logo, the error variants won’t have it.

  2. Sorry. Just to clarify, the recalled ones DO have the ’10 years’ logo and the reprinted ones don’t. Is that correct? Thanks

    1. Sorry. I think it’s the other way like Poyo said. Thanks. Conflicting info hurts my brain 🙂

      1. Thanks. I have no lcs so only have ebay to go by. Even then most use stock images. I’ve asked a few sellers whether it says 2014 or 2015 printing. Fingers crossed.

      2. Also, the recalled version will have the Minecraft ad on the back.. probably a really quick way to determine which one you have or if you’re inquiring a seller about one for sale.
Only 4 listed that are “confirmed” recalled variants on eBay currently.. and only one set (cover A and B) sold so far for $19.99. I’m waiting for the right time to list my own…

  3. I hope the price goes up! I’ve got 2 sets of A and B. Got them first thing that morning on day they came out, right after you guys mentioned it being recalled. Thanks Guys for the great info all the time!
