Memorial Day has very little to do with those that currently serve or served and more to do with those service men and women that lost their lives defending our country. Everyone needs to remember that. Thanks. – USAF veteran
Jake. I fully understand that. I didn’t want to sound morose and thank only those that gave it all but wanted to thank everyone who has served.
But to you as well, thank you for your service. I do live between an Army base and a Navy base. Smack dab in the center between Ft Meade and Annapolis. While I never served I do appreciate all that did

Wasn’t trying to stir anything up. It really was an expression of thanks for all who have served, those still with us, and those who have passed.

You’re probably itching to tell me ALL about it. Not interested. Anyway as for the blog, keep up the good work. I understand what you’re saying. My prior post was not inflammatory nor was it meant to be. Origin and history lesson aside, it’s a solemn day in my opinion. Not everyone is on the same page. That’s the point I was trying to make.

I know what memorial day is really for, but we can’t actually thank those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. We should take the time to thank their families and friends for what they have lost and I believe that is why we thank the ones serving now because they may be the next to pay the cost.
Jake you aren’t being fair to Army and Marines. The Navy (which has more jets than the Air Force) and Coast Guard like to judge the Chair Force too.
Anthony, if you live between bases you should know the inter-branch teasing isn’t serious. The Air Force is just sensitive about their Wi-Fi, fast food, and fresh coffee on “deployment”. They’re the first to play the veteran card, and the first to get twisted when you tease them about how different their service was from everyone elses. In all seriousness though thank you for the post, intent in this case, unless you’re fishing for a way to work your veteran status into a blog post, is probably more important than historical accuracy.

I didn’t mean to imply you did sir. That was another jab on the “USAF veteran” sign off tag. It was to be my last and final joke offering to the great FOB in the sky. I apologize for any ambiguity that may have existed in my statements though. Thanks again for the blog.
