Each week hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential, some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot of heating up.
Here are our picks of the week for delivery 7/1/15:
The One You Should Buy Anyway
Chew #50– The landmark 50th issue of the fan favorite series. The final show down. The fight everyone has been dying to see (Agent Poyo included.)
The Small Press Gem
Grant Morrison’s 18 Days #1 – Selling out online. Priced at a buck. Grant Morrison writing, sold!
The “For the Cover Alone” one
Barbwire #1 Adam Hughes Variant– Hughes brings in the fan boys. This cover will be hot for a while. This one will be the eventual $10 wall book at least. And let’s not forget the Adam Hughes Regular Cover either. Let us not forget the Barbwire #1 Audacity Variant, which retailers had to send in 100 ripped off Star Wars #1 covers (priced at $4.99 of lost sales each) to get. The asking prices on this one are huge.
The Cultural Phenomenon
Mickey Mouse #1– Was singing the song just typing it out. But let’s face it, there are a ton of Disney collectors. This will be in the hands of kids too, kids destroy comics. Even with a high print run, they could become chocolate covered wrinkled messes. (All covers are sold out at Midtown now.) Make sure to check out the Blank Sketch Variant and the Subscription Cover as well.
The pick of the week
We Stand On Guard #1– BKV sells books, books that people love. At $2.99, how can you resist picking up a couple. Sure this will have a fairly big print run, so did Saga, see how those prices are doing now. This could be a slow burn but will go up in value.
That is it for us this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.
