There is often news about books getting optioned, but it is great when there is follow up mentioning the movie (or tv show) actually going into production. Joe Kelly’s I Kill Monsters got piked upa little while back and now casting news is coming out.

Zoe Saldana has signed on for a key role in I Kill Giants, the upcoming film version of the graphic novel by Joe Kelly and illustrator Ken Niimura. The story follows a young misfit girl named Barbara who grapples with monsters both real and imagined in her life. Saldana will play Mrs. Mollé, the school psychologist who helps Barbara through her struggles and forms a tight bond with her as a result. Saldana joins up-and-comer Madison Wolfe as Barbara, who was chosen for the role after a nationwide search of over 500 actresses.
Filming is set to begin in early 2016, with Anders Walter helming from a script by Kelly.
