It’s a good week. May 4th is on new comic book day. This Saturday is FCBD 2016. I’m gonna get Becky Cloonan signature on Punisher #1 on Wednesday at Austin Books. And best of all, it’s new comic book day with a whole bunch of new comics coming out.
So let’s get on with Poyo’s magnificent picks of the week..
DC/Vertigo Pick
Detective Comics #52 (DC) Manapul Homage Variant – Just a sweet homage cover if you ask me.
Marvel Pick(s)
Black Widow #3 (Marvel) Joelle Jones Variant – Sweet looking Black Widow cover. Grab one if you see it, already sold out at most retailers online.
Punisher #1 (Marvel) Alex Maleev Variant – I’m a long time Punisher fan so this is a sweet looking variant. Really looking forward to this volume, I really enjoyed the last volume which I thin was one of Marvel’s underrated series at the time. With Punisher in Daredevil season 2 and likely coming out with his own series as well, fans and new fans will be seeking these out.
The Spec of the Week
Walking Dead #154 (Image) – Yes, like already pointed out in one of Tony’s spoiler posts, a new character is introduced. We all know what happens when new characters are introduced in The Walking Dead right? They make it to the show, they heat up. Grab an extra, grab 10 if you like easy money, this one will be easy money in the near future. Even if the character ends up being a dud and not on the show, even common issues end up being worth double the cover or more. So yeah, easy gamble here.
The Pick That Non Comic Book Collectors Will Be Seeking Out
Vikings #1 (Titan) – Yes, the show is wildly popular. Once word is out that there’s comic books, expect all those crazy show fans to seek these out (like my wife, she’s gonna shit bricks when I bring her home a copy).
The Indie Pick (It’s another Valiant Book within a month)
4001 AD (Valiant) – A crossover event for Valiant. Some online retailers already showing these to be sold out on a few covers. Valiant usually ranges around the 10-20k print run so grab’em while you can, it’s Matt Kindt writing so it’s got that going for it. Look out for the popular CGC mock variant as well.
It’s a big week, lots of good stuff but I’m going to limit what I post here cause I could point out some other stuff but let’s not get carried away.. 🙂

I finally got around to reading the backup story in Howard the Duck. Then I read the Holiday Special (which was mostly about She Hulk) and issue #1. Quite honestly, she grated on my nerves a bit. I may give her another issue or two, but I think Marvel is trying too hard with this one.
