Michael Moreci and Tim Daniel's Curse Optioned

Curse was one of favorite horror mini series in the past few years. Not only was it cowritten by Tim Daniel, a writer who I like, it was cowritten by Michael Moreci, another writer I really like (he has also sponsored several contests here), but it had art by one of my favorites, Riley Rossmo. The werewolf story by the talented trio has been optioned.
Hollywood Reporter had the story.

Horror shop Blumhouse is teaming with Boom! Studios for werewolf drama Curse.
Blumhouse has optioned the graphic novel that was written Michael Moreci (Roche Limit) and Tim Daniel (Enormous) and illustrated by Colin Lorimer and Riley Rossmo.
Jason Blum will produce via Blumhouse, while Ross Richie and Stephen Christy will produce on Boom!’s side.
The story centers on a widowed father who is desperate and financially broken from trying to save his child from a rare illness. Seizing the opportunity to claim a reward offered for the capture of a killer in his rural community, he inadvertently captures a werewolf. The question then becomes whether the lycan will be the broken family’s reluctant savior or its final destroyer.
The comic was notable as it featured a black protagonist, an uncommon occurrence in comic publishing.

Copies of Curse #1 are pretty readily available on eBay, but move fast as prices spike and copies disappear after these announcements are made.   There were 1:15 variants for most of the issues as well. The book is a really good read that we had as a pick of the week a long time ago, so the series is really worth picking up.
Thanks to Emiobeg for the tip.

  1. Why not! Found an issue #1 on Amazon for cover price. If it is a good read and optioned ya can’t go wrong with cover price!..plus shipping of course. I gotta say, it won’t be long before I have an entire short box filled with books that have been optioned! Some imo have been very good and others not so much. Here is to hoping that more than a handful of those make it to the small and big screen! CHU should sponsor another contest for its members; create a comic series and if it gets optioned win another comic from the past few years that has also been optioned.
