Blind Adam's Hidden Gems Vol. 12

Blind Adam is a comic book dealer in New York and New Jersey, and yes, he is blind (90%). He has been contributing a fun list of hidden gems each week.
Greetings to my Heating Up and Awesomesauce families. thank you all for all of your help in making a blind guys dreams come true, for reading this each and every week. Thank you Tony for giving me a sandbox to play in and thank you for being my friend! Now, lets make some money on some books
1. World’s Finest #215 –  with Super Sons hitting DC Rebirth, I thought it would be cool to mention the first time Superman and Batman had sons in this classic silver age issue of worlds finest $10-25
2. DC Direct Currents #85 – early Preacher preview. AMC is on fire. That Preacher show is awesomesauce. So I sugest seeking out all the preview Preacher apperances and this is one of the best bets
3. DC Editorial Presentation 1994 – This is an in house publication to green light the Preacher series. Just one image of Jesse and a blurb about the series and is very rare. Current eBay listings have it at $50-70.  This is a must have for Preacher completists out there.
4. Batman Mad Love and Other Stories hardcover – yes Harley Quinn is hot. This is comics right? Well, I belive this hardcover might be out of print as I don’t see it on Amazon much anymore $40 and up. Any print including the current trade of Mad Love is worth having
5. The Flash Volume 2 #1 – First issue of the Wally West as the Flash series. rebirth dropped this week. Wally is the man ushering in the rebirth and I do believe this and the t.v. show Wally will grow his audience $5-10
6. Uncanny X-Men #256 – I don’t give a damn, the New X-Men movie is a blast. Olivia Munn as Psylocke is the bomb. Olivia Munn as Psylocke is the “new Wolverine”. This story has class, art by Jim Lee and turns Psylocke into a ninja badass and is key $10
7. Uncanny X-Men #265 – Mystique is a major player in the x-men world . Jennifer Lawrence is smoking hot, yes I said it. This issue reveals that Destini and Mystique are lovers. Originally Mystique was supposed to be Nightcrawler’s father but Marvel said no to that idea $3-5
8. Popeye the Wedding Special – for some reason I can’t get the Popeye theme song out of my head. The best spec worthy modern Popeye comic is the wedding of popeye and Olive Oyl $5-10
9. Tomb of Dracula #13 – Blade is going to Netflix. So, we will get an awesome Blade t.v. series, much better then the Sticky Fingers Spike show from ten years ago. This is the issue that explains Blade’s origin. Where is the All New Marvel Blade series with Blade’s daughter? $20 and up depending on grade
10. Watchmen #1 NYCC reprint – Watchmen is hot smoking hot. During the movie promotion #1 was reprinted and given away at conventions with the “After The Watchmen” tagline on it. There was one of these for NYCC and SDCC and are tough to find $10
11. Watchmen #4 – origin of Dr. Manhattan. Dr Manhattan is a pysco level creator DC New 52? Rebirth? Was this Geoff Jones plan from the start of Before Watchmen? Alan Moore must drinking mad beers, but this is a key Dr. Manhattan appearance $10-20 sets of watchmen #1-12 are going between $119-225 on eBay right now…. crazy
12. Super Powers Steppenwolf action figure – yes, I know, not a comic book persay, but this was a mail away figure from the classic Super Powers line came with the mini comic which I talked about before. Steppenwolf is the villan for Justice League Part 1 and he is becoming a player. $75-100 try to get in the original bag
13. JSA #65 – the Hourman Rex Tyler showed up on legends of tomorrow. I feel we will get some verson of the Justice Society in the CW. DC-verse. I went to Wikipedia for Hourman information and got jack ,but this is a sweet cover that might be a cheap find $1-3
14. Before Watchmen the Comedian #1 1 in 25 variant – Again, Watchmen is hot. The button with the smiley face was found in the Batcave so I am saying Comedian stuff might be a cheap safe bet to pick up $1-3
15. Captain America #134 – yes #117 is the first Falcon. Heck, Sentinel of Liberty #8is the first time Sam Wilson becomes Captain America but people sometimes forget his that #134 is when the title becomes Captain America and the Falcon $20-35 in high grade
16. Conan the Barbarian Handbook – I was watching the Running Man on Netflix and it reminded me of the first few comics I bought in a convience store back in 1986. Arnold was the man ever since Conan the Barbarian, and this to my knowledge, has not been reprinted and is in dollar or fifty cent bins. It should be scouted out for the fun factor
no real spec play
17. Avengers #185 – first origin of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Quicksilver steals the show in the New X-Men movie. Especially when he reveals mags is his father. This is a classic origin story $5-10
18. Kick Ass #3 – I was reading on Bleeding Cool that there might be more for Mindy a.k.a. Hitgirl. She is the star of the Kick Ass series and this is her first appearance. It is still key and awesome $20
19. The Unfunnies #1 – this is the Mark Millar series that never gets the love. It is the black sheep of all of his creations. Unfunnies might be crude but it is well worth the hunt. I think I might need to have my people call Mark Millars people so I can make a fan film about the
Unfunnies $3-5
20. Hellblazer #41 – Preacher is a t.v. star. It is debated about Hellblazer #60 being his origin or not or even his first appearance. However, Garth Ennis’s first American work is on Hellblazer #41 his entire Hellblazer run is worth reading $5-10
Bonus Round:
21. The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe Second Print – this is the 2000 edition released right before the first Garth Ennis mini series, Welcome Back Frank and is harder to find $20-40.
Once again thank you. Thank you all for the encourgment, friendship, and advice

  1. Not to shut you down, Adam, but your people will probably have little luck with Mark Millar’s people. As Bleedingcool.com has discussed, Millar seems to refuse to talk about, “The Unfunnies.” In any collections of his past work it gets nary a mention and he NEVER brings it up either. I’ve heard he won’t even talk about the comic if people ask him. Why he’s so touchy about it I don’t know, as it having read the 2nd issue of the series I found in a dollar bin and some of his other work too it isn’t much more extreme.

    1. I have the issues here some where. He put it out through Avatar so he could be more edgy. That and Chosen were to be his edgier books and I felt they didn’t go as far as they could have.
