Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery 6/8/16

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 6/8/16:

Returning Favorites
Birthright #16 – Joshua Williamson continues his epic story. One of the best reads out there.
Grizzly Shark #3 – this book has been cracking me up with each release. Puts the fun back in funny books.
Renato Jones One Percent #2 – I was worried the book would be overly preachy. But it wasn’t. Instead we get an ultra violent “Batman” rich crime fighter archetype that works well.
Harrow County #13 – Cullen Bunn is seriously line of the most versatile writers out there. In addition to being able to swing different styles, he does horror right. Harrow County is one of the creepiest books on the market.
The “Going Back For More” One
The Fix – This week we get a new issue with Fix #3 (expect a sell out), as well as, a new cover on Fix #1 Third Print, and Fix #2 Second Print. Really worth getting in on this series while it is still early. Great reviews, funny as hell story, and good art.
The Small Press Gem
Norman #1 – This should sell well and be a book that gains a cult following, especially for the Roman Dirge cover.
The Large Press Pick of the Week
Wonder Woman Rebirth #1 Artgerm Variant – No denying that this one will be the cover to get.  Artgerm has a great following (and attends NYCC every year) and a loyal fan base.
The Pick of the Week
Ghoul Scouts Night of the Unliving Dead #1 – normally we pick a small press pick of the week and then a pick of the week, this week it is completely flipped around. Think of this one as Lumberjanes by way of The Walking Dead. (I know, another zombie book). The small print run on this, plus being a horror book, will make this one very desirable.
But wait, there’s more….
The Good Reader Value Picks

Timely Comics Daredevil and Timely Comics Dr. Strange – Marvel is releasing three issue “mini-trades” of story arcs to draw in new readers. Each column will contain the first three issues of a book. The books are priced at $3 each and are just an exceptional value.
And Finally…….
The Because of the Cover

I am not going to lie and tell you I know what is going on here. Merry Men #1 Luce variant – explores the possible historical evidence on why the Merry Men were outlaws, I think you can tell by the cover. That’s not what gets me, its the flesh colored pants that makes the cover seem more inappropriate then it was probably intended to be.
Seems to go well with this one:
