Agent Poyo's Really Big Picks of the Week for June 29, 2016

Each week, hundreds of new books come out every Wednesday. Rebirth has been the recent craze as of lately. New story reboots, new characters and finally, we get a break as most of the Rebirth titles this week are just 2nd printings of the one shots.
So with that in mind, we can focus on some of the other good stuff this week.

DC/Vertigo Picks
Rebirth 2nd Prints #1 – Yeah, not much else coming out and sometimes the 2nd prints can come in demand, pushing their value up. So don’t be shy about picking up 2nd prints.
Marvel Pick
Captain America #2 (Marvel) – With Captain supposedly supporting Hydra this entire time (still can’t see how that’s possible or how they’re going to play this out), #1 heated up quick but has since cooled off. I’m sure a lot of readers are anticipating #2 now, so it’s a pick of the week to find out more about this Hydra baloney.
Black Panther #3 (Marvel) – Black Panther is just awesome and this new series is great so far. And we all know Black Panther would never betray us by being a secret double agent for Hydra or the like, so it’s the other pick of the week.
Spec of the Week
Inhumans #11 (Marvel) – It’s supposedly going to have the first appearance of Mosaic and it’s already hitting the $10 to $15 range for Cover A. The regular and the Civil War re-enactment cover are selling up to $20 together in after market pre-sales. So this one has already heated up due to a possible major character getting his own series in a few months 1st appearance. So grab them if you can. The Putri Variant is already hitting the $60 mark on some current bids that end in around 17 hours (as of Monday night when I wrote this), so should have already ended by the time you read this.
Indie Picks of the Week
Hillbilly #1 (Albatross Exploding) – Eric Powell writes and draws this one. I’m drawn to this one since most of my dad’s side of the family are real hillbillies from the hills in eastern Tennessee. So I’m looking forward to this one.
4 Kids Walk Into A Bank #2 (Black Mask) – I really enjoyed #1 so I’m looking forward to #2.
Pick of the Week
Jade Street Protection Services #1 (Black Mask) – A new Black Mask #1. We all know what can potentially happen with these? They can be hard to come by and heat up quick. So if you find them, keep and eye out on the secondary market for quick flip potential. I wouldn’t rush out and buy a pile of these, judging by past titles and releases, it becomes very easy to find these later on at your local shops after more orders are placed. Black Mask playing games with us I think.
The Picks I’m Really Excited About
Indoctrination #1 (Z2) – “How do you kill an idea? Across the dusty plains of America’s southwest, a deadly storm is brewing. A string of murders portend the sinister designs of an infamous terrorist to bring about the end times. Two FBI agents have heeded the signs, and only their rogue actions, aided by a potentially untrustworthy expatriate with deep ties to the terrorist, can push this darkness back. Indoctrination explores America’s terrifying underbelly-of death cults and sleeper cells, serial killers and apocalyptic nightmares.”
Sweetness #1 (Z2) – “The Sweetness by wife and husband duo Miss Lasko Gross and Kevin Golden follows two badass female intergalactic smugglers of a mysterious controlled substance who cater to the unique tastes of alien drug addicts.”
Both of these from Z2 and both sound really promising. It’s a really good week for Indie Books, the best books. Another honorable mention is Dredd Dust #2, I was fortunate to get my #1 copy last week (I think most are coming this week or possibly even later) so really am hoping #2 hits stands this week to finish this short but great read. Dredd is one of my guilty pleasure comics, when done right, just great stuff.
What is everyone else picking up or spec’ing out?

Of course we do, Poyo, it’s either a cosmic cube or Red Skull using Xavier’s mind control. My bet is cosmic cube, you know, the one that restored his youth?

      1. Nice. I’m not usually this good at predictions, but this one was painfully obvious to me. I thought for sure they wanted us to think that one to throw a curve, but I guess not.
