Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 7/27/16
Returning Favoites
Black Eyed Kids #4 – Seriously a great series. Easy enough to find the back issues and worth the read. Aftershock has media ties and it is only a matter of time before you hear that this will be a TV show or movie.
Beauty #9 – Still love the series. Great read and fascinating story. They have been doing “back story” issues since the first story arc ended.
Haunted Mansion #5 – Joshua Wiliamson doing back story on Disney’s classic ride.
Image Plus #4 – Negan’s origin and intro to new comics. Awesome.
Self-Storage #6 – Hate to see it go but dying to read the last issue.
Sons of the Devil #9 – Just love this series. Again, easily approachable with cheap back issues and a good read.
The Last Issue one
Harley Quinn #30– Simple equation on this one. Last issues usually have smaller print runs. Harley will be in a movie soon. Cool cover. Winner!
Rebirth
Flash #3 DC – Godspeed appears. I know people do not see this as a big deal but this is one of very few appearances we have seen of him.
Titans #1 Again, people may think it is not a big deal but I think seeing Dr. Manhattan (even if it is just his hand this time) in the DCU is a cool thing.
New Image #1
Mechanism #1 – Survival Sci-fi. Mechanism asks, ‘Is humanity worth saving?’ (no) When a prototype military robot is sent to the frontline of an alien invasion, its artificial mind must evolve in the company of a group of human survivors. As the machine learns what it means to be human, will it decide that we are a race worth saving, or find itself on the other side of the combat lines?
The Pick of the Week
But Like Maybe #1 – Instagram hit comic strip coming to comic form. Small press, so low print run. Now, throw in 3,000 to 16,000 followers for Dru Radovich and Arianna Margulis’ comics on-line, and this could heat up. Very female friendly and could be an Amazon and eBay hit.
Overall a small week. Still some killer reads. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.

But like maybe #1 might be a sleeper i ordered 3 awhile back
I just bought the last 4 from the lone vendor on eBay. Good pick Anthony
Which book?
But Like Maybe #1 bought from the UK. Someone just listed some copies at $15 already
And I just saw the last couple copies of BLM sell out on Midtown. Could be interesting…
interesting. I know some people, Mel included when he had this on the Big Gems a while back, that had this on their radar
Image + print run might see a big drop with this issue. It’s no longer free with Previews.
Still only a $1.99. That’s the way I have been buying it. Stand alone.
Yep, but I’d still bet stores will get them fewer copies.
Probably.
I really see people falling off of these. My shop just started giving Previews away for free to certain customers. I’m curious to see if my shop includes these or not.
All the SDCC Rebirth foils are heating up and Black Hammer SDCC is rising in price. Say what you will about SDCC Rebirth Foils but it’s the only con variant for those issues. I’m just happy my 1 foil set shipped from ebay.
Nice.
