Alright, now on to other news! Jason Aaron just announced over at Starwars.com that the series’ next arc kicking off in issue #26 will be an untold tale of Jedi Master Yoda!
The framework of the story seems like a really cool concept. Aaron has been giving the reader breathers between story arcs with passages that Luke reads from old Ben Kenobi’s journal found towards the beginning of the series. So far, these have been stand alone issues with beautiful art from Mike Mayhew depicting an incognito Jedi Obi-Wan looking out for his young Protege, Luke. Obi-Wan generally kicks butt and protects the lowly farmers, while some familiar faces crop up.

However, starting with issue 26, Aaron is going to present a full story arc from Obi-Wan’s journal about Master Yoda. Aaron discusses the story constraints of a pre-Empire Strikes Back book and how he deftly maneuvered around those:

Starwars.com: “[I]n a new arc kicking off with Star Wars #26, it will add maybe its biggest contribution to Star Wars so far: a Yoda story, which Luke will read — without knowing who Yoda is or that it’s actually about him — in Obi-Wan’s recovered journals.”
Aaron:”…I was always trying to figure out a way for us to use Yoda. We’re a bit hamstrung in terms of the time period of our main story, because Yoda’s chilling on Dagobah. So this was kind of the only way we could kill all those birds with one stone — to do one story that connects Luke, Yoda, and Obi-Wan all at the same time, while still taking place in three different time periods.

Aaron also promises that the foe Yoda faces will be actually be a formidable challenge for one of the most powerful Jedi Masters:
“The other big challenge with Yoda, of course, is finding something that’s a challenge for him, right? Who can pose a threat to Yoda? I think we came up with an interesting answer to that question. That’s part of the mystery of this story. There’s a very specific reason that this is going to be quite the challenge for Yoda. It’s not a matter of just him being the more powerful Jedi. It’s a bit trickier than that.”
Finally, for those fans of the soon-to-be-concluded Darth Vader series, Salvador Larocca will be drawing the next arc featuring Yoda.

As a bonus tid-bit, new art for Han Solo #4 variants (go ahead and ignore the number one at the top of the issue, freakin’ Marvel!) has materialized featuring some names we haven’t seen involved on Star Wars covers very often. One of the most interesting to me being Dustin Nguyen (Descender):

    1. I use the Random.org list randomizer all names go on the list and then I total up the number of entries as the number of times it gets rolled. For example 117 entries will equal 1+1+7 for 9 rolls. It’s a pain to do but it ensures randomness.

  1. Nice write up! Who is still loving the main Star Wars title from marvel? This guy!! It’s great seeing new takes on these classic characters.
Getting caught up recently, and like issue 21 how it was written from the perspective of storm trooper who believes in the empire
