Looks like US Avengers will have a secret variant that will be available to retailers that order all 54 of the state variants for US Avengers. (Yes 54 it includes D.C., Puerto Rico, and others)
Not to mention the covers will connect into a big flag.
Oh, and it hints at Marvel 2017’s big event. Looks like someone is taking back his old costume.

I can’t imagine these secret variants sustaining for very long… Just sayin.
I ordered the whole shebang from my LCS- 62 total covers including all the variants and the secret variant. Just because!

Yes, they can. The bad thing is people buy it. If people would stop, they would stop.

To be honest the whole secret variant thing and 1:1000 incentive variants, I think are hurting comic collecting as a whole. Instead of it being about the comic content, the characters it contains, the beautiful cover, the artist and writer, it’s all about the rarity now. While having a rare book that’s going to resale for big $$$$ the day it comes out is nice it also degrades every other non chase variant that contains the same issue. So say out of 1000 copies of Champions #1 you really only have 31 books out of 1000 that anybody wants 1:1000, 10x 1:100, 20x 1:50 + store exclusives and the rest might as well be toilet paper that will sit on shelfs and eBay below cover indefinitely most likely. The high incentive variants and secret variants keep me from having any interest in the reg cover of these books. Soon we could end up with everybook having a secret variant and 1:1000 it’s pretty scary. We started with the incentive variant, then the store exclusive, soon followed by the more limited B/W store exclusive and higher incentive ratio variants, now its store exclusives with 3 covers reg, B/W, and ultra limited secret variant and also 1:500 1:1000 incentive retailer variants. When will the madness end.
The madness will end when we stop buying books like that. I agree with you Alana on everything you said. Take a look at Black mask comics. Not a big company 2 years ago and now they are making a big name for themselves. People make the company. If you don’t buy the product they ain’t S@%#.
But Black Mask has about 15 variants for 4 Kids 1, and at least as many for We Can Never Go Home Again. And they have sold well because of it.
God please make these stupid variants stop….People need to realize it’s just newly printed paper. Worth the cover price, that’s it! Unless something monumental happens INSIDE the book the value will drop, like a rock. People will eventually lose interest because they are upset that the brand new variants they bought have lost most of their investment. The comic market will crash if this keeps up.
