We open things up to hear from you. A free for all.
The 112th edition of the open forum!
How was your Thanksgiving? Any Black Friday pick ups?
“Don’t mess with my Wednesdays”.
As always we also want to hear about your weekly pickups.
So, What were your pick ups?
What had disappeared off the shelves?

  1. It’s looking like a pretty light week for me (thankfully!) Really looking forward to Seven to Eternity #3. Monstress #8 is out as well so I’ll be picking that one up.
This past week, I picked up the JSC variant to X-Infernus #1, the Djurdjevic variant to X-23: Target X #1, and some Hughes Catwoman issues.

  2. Just some online pre-orders for me:
    Saga #41
Seven to Eternity #3 both covers
Did pre-order Black #3 from Forbidden Planet, but on my order page says they are waiting instructions from suppliers, which is code for they messed up, don’t have enough copies and I probably won’t get any copies delivered.
And Forbidden Planet, if anyone in your high management strata happen to read this, will you sort out how you package up your comics, especially large orders. This week had 12 comics delivered, 4 per bag, which mean the plastic was putting pressures on corners. Worst of all, they were loose in packing box, about two inches of space at one end, which meant they slid during transit and ALL have blunted corners.
    Sorry about the rant guys…

    1. No no.. I’d rant to. That’s utter nonsense on how they packing comics. I despise poor packaging.. it’s uncalled for and it’s just damn right lazy!

    2. Rant away. I got a Meat Wagon #1 signed from them that they put a sticker right on the damn cover. Would have cost me way too much to send back to them……. sticker on the flipping cover.

    3. When I went to their physical store on Shaftesbury Avenue, it looked like they were more about volume than condition. Massive stack of Adam Hughes Thor #3 variants slumping on the shelf without bags or boards. It’s probably a trade off between the amount of volume they do and the time it would take to bag and board (plus, the amount of unpurchased bagged and boarded books that would require un-bagging and un-boarding in order to repackage as bundles).
At any rate, at least at my tiny eBay volume, I manage to just pack with what I have lying around and never really have condition complaints or return requests (major outlier incidents come to mind in the exception).

    4. Oh man. I ordered the Thought Bubble Wytches variant from them back when it came out. Of course it arrived to me all beat up. Luckily, I managed to get it pressed and that saved the book. It was ridiculous I had to pay additional money to get what should have been a mint copy to begin with. I haven’t ordered from them again.

  3. The multiple comics in bags is “company policy” I was told on a previous occasion by one of their customer service representatives (irony, considering the poor customer service they give!) And only boarded and in separate bag if it’s a variant cover, although that didn’t happen this time, my Moonshine variant was stuffed in with the others.

    1. I can maybe see two comics in a bag to save overall costs, with a backer board separating them but 4 or more, yeah, that’s pushing it. I laugh when companies claim it’s company policy though for explanations. It’s like the overweight guy telling himself he’s not allowed to eat cupcakes, but rules are meant to be broken, especially when they’re your own rules. πŸ™‚

  4. So it’s thankfully a small week and I can save some cash what with all the spending I’ve been doing lately. I popped the question last night (so as not to interfere with new comicbook day!) and she said YES! WOO!!
    This week I will get:
    Batman
    Deadpool
Ghost Rider – only because I’m hearing there’s a 1st appearance of a new villain at the end
    Image +
    IvX
JLA – This is still going? Didn’t the previous issue come out like forever ago?
    Star Wars
    Superman
    Uncanny Inhumans
Tony, Loved the in car unboxing! Too bad for soo many duplicate figures! Loving the hair cut!

    1. My LCS used to put extra Image+ issues on their “free” shelf next to the door. The recent issues haven’t made it there. I wonder if people are catching on. I managed to get 5 copies of 1-6 each for free. Great Christmas gifts for the Walking Dead fans in my life.

  5. – Star Wars Annual #2. It’s rare and annual hits issue two anymore. I’m excited for the regular cover on this.
-I might pick up the Batman Annual, maybe Spookhouse. I’m interested to see if Hillbilly #4 actually shows up at my LCS. God, please don’t let Albatross go the way of Black Mask!

  6. Just got the Deymuth variant for ghost writer at cover price… EBay sales are around 50… Midtown comics had it listed for $500… Which makes me feel really good
Should I hold it or should I flip it?

    1. Nice! I paid $25 for mine. Market seems pretty flooded right now so I’m holding onto it for a while.

      1. Then bought the photo variant for 6.00, might read and then hold the photo variant and the flip the other…I guess we will just keep an eye on the market and see if it goes up…

    2. My local shop today got no variants. None. Zip. Zilch.
But then I skimmed the book and it looks more like a Totally Awesome Hulk book and not a Ghost Rider book.

    1. Are either of them out in Walgreens yet? The Shadow Guard I mean. Walgreens recently had a buy one get one free Pop sale on their Exclusives and I wiped out several stores.

      1. I think right now shadow guard is online only. However, like Grievous, it may start out online only then they will send some stock to the stores in a few weeks.

        1. Still haven’t found a Grevious. A reader said he picked me up one but never hit me up to pay or for shipping

  7. Anybody find a Savage #1 1:50 b&w sketch variant. I’m trying to find a copy with no luck anywhere. None here in Arizona period. I tried online at all the usual spots and still nothing. I’ll buy a copy from anybody.

  8. Picking up this week:
    Monstress 8
    Saga 40
    Invader Zim 15
    Rick & Morty 20
    Maybe:
Spookhouse 2 (I like Powell, but was not impressed by #1)
Superman Annual 2 (Swamp Thing story)
Seven to Eternity 3 (I haven’t had a chance to read the first 2)
Just got Lasik. I’ve worn glasses since I was 5. Letting my eyes heal before reading too many comics.

    1. LASIK freaks me out man. As I get older my vision is changing and I am excepting of the fact I am going to need glasses. Having my eyes lasers and cut…. man… I don’t know

      1. I had an old gf who had lasik done. It seemed relatively simple. The thing that got me was that there’s no guarantee it will take. She was back in glasses a year later, a weaker prescription, but still in glasses.

      2. It’s not bad; there is no pain. The worst part is what they forget to tell you: it smells like burning your hair with a hair dryer.

      3. I got Lasik more than 10 years ago, no problems here. It was a life saver for me no more contacts.

  9. Good week for a Ghost Rider fan!
    This weeks were
    Ghost Rider #1 Regular Cover
    Ghost Rider #1 Blank Cover
Ghost Rider #1 Danillo Beyruth 1 per store
    Spookhouse #2
    Hillbilly #1 2nd print
    Fish Eye #1

      1. I only nabbed a copy to check it out and to just have one. I didn’t plan on buying beyond #1 since I never dug this Ghost Rider… gimme the classic rider please, with bike and a real flaming skull!

      2. I like Johnny Blaze, but Robbie is awesome because he has a freakin’ CHARGER! That beats out the cycle, at least for me πŸ™‚

  10. I had a rain day so I was off work, and that is when I do some of my comic shopping when I have breaks in the work day. So today I just stayed in read more than a few comics, and organized some long boxes two down, too many to go. I’ll go by a shop or two tomorrow if I have time.

  12. Just a heads up, the J.Scott Campbell online store is having a 50% off sale. If you’re a fan, here’s a great opportunity to get some books for cheap.

  13. No one is talking about Savage #1 NO ONE and when it goes up just say I warned you. I have been able to locate all the variants in duplicates and this book will be RED HOT!!!

      1. I bet you do.. bet you got all those Boundless raunchy covers adorning your man cave.. πŸ™‚

    1. I was able to snag my shops only character design variant along with the regular cover. I didn’t spec on this mainly due to plot, I don’t see it as grabbing everyone’s attention.
