Poyo's Picks of the Week for December 7th, 2016

It’s beginning to look a lot like.. New Comic Book Day!
Every Wednesday we go..
Take a look at Poyo’s picks, they’re gonna glisten once again,
With everything you probably already know..

Were you all singing that when reading it? You all better be.. and smile while you sing it, new comic book day is upon us once again.
So, nothing is really coming out from DC this week, so I’m gonna actually skip picking one. Not even a cover really stands out as being special. I mean, I think the only books I’ll be picking up are Batman and Superman. Unless something crazy happens in one of them and or another title has some surprise in it, nothing stands out for DC this week.
So let’s move on to Marvel.. and the rest.
Marvel Pick
Slapstick #1 (Marvel) – I kid.. I kid.. really? Slapstick?
The real pick goes to:
Doctor Aphra #1 (Marvel) – Our new favorite character from the Star Wars Galaxy, leading right where it left off in Darth Vader #25 . Buy’em, stash them.. maybe read one of the copies. This will be a book that is long sought after months and years from now from all those Star Wars fans that aren’t even born yet. But now’s also the time to grab her first appearance in Darth Vader #3 while it’s still affordable. If she ever shows up in a movie or show, these are going to blow up. Also, I must admit, I’m waiting for her droids to have their own series cause I almost like them more than her. The Rod Reis Droids variant is a must pickup for me.
Small Publisher Pick
Walking Dead #161 (Image) – Sorry, but even if nothing significant happens, you can’t go wrong picking up Walking Dead copies as even the common issues end up selling at a premium, as long as the show stays hot which I don’t see it dying down anytime soon.
Indie Pick
Atoll #1 (Creative Mind Energy) – You hopefully read my quick review/preview post. It’s already sold out online at most retailers who have listed it. Grab’em if you can, it’s a good read if you ask me, especially if you like horror and sharks.
That’s it for this week. Be nice to one another, no shoving and pushing during the holiday shopping season. Poyo also would like to remind people to not text and drive, it can wait and I’m tired of dodging you aholes who do on my daily commute.

  1. Re: Doctor Aphra #1, I’m thinking the Black Friday deal I got from Sad Lemon Comics with the Pichelli variant one of the deals in it may pay dividends in the future. 5 comics for £25, that’s only a fiver each, standard cover price here in the UK is £3.30 for Marvel. Sweet
