CURSE WORDS’ SKOTTIE YOUNG VARIANT REVEALED

Fans of I HATE FAIRYLAND will love this cover artwork.

Image Comics is pleased to reveal a special, cheeky variant cover for CURSE WORDS #1 by Charles Soule and Ryan Browne featuring artwork by I HATE FAIRYLAND’s Skottie Young (I HATE FAIRYLAND).

Young’s characteristic wit is on display in this cover featuring CURSE WORDS’ main character, Wizord… Erm, expressing his contempt for the stereotypical “wizard” people are familiar with… as Margaret watches on disapprovingly.

In CURSE WORDS #1, a wizard has appeared in New York City, and he’s casting wonderful spells, getting famous, getting rich—it’s great! But it’s not. This wizard has everyone fooled. He is actually an evil wizard, and evil things are on the way. CURSE WORDS is a gonzo modern fantasy, full of darkness, light… and magic.

CURSE WORDS #1 Cover B by Young (Diamond Code NOV160538) will hit comic book stores on Wednesday, January 18th. The final order cutoff deadline for comic book retailers is Monday, December 19th.

What a lot of people dont realize is that Skottie Young can do more than just his cartoony masterworks. He can also draw realistic art that ranks right up there with some of the best, and this cover hints at it. To be honest I’ve never really been a fan until I saw his pre-cartoonish style. Maybe it’s because of the flood of variants. Anyways, check out some of his work in the 2003 Venom series. It changed my opinion rather quickly.

  2. Vernon Wiggins says:

I enjoy the cartoon stuff much like I enjoy family circus on sundays. However, I do agree. His best work is the other stuff. The iron man samurai he did (I forget the ussue) and the captain Britain where wolverine looks Tim burton-esque are fantastic.

  3. Alana says:

In walking dead news, looks like Sasha will be dying this season as the actress is cast in a lead role on CBS new Star Trek show, this show will be filming same time as Walking Dead so highly unlikely she will be in both shows.

Very interesting. I do love a good Death on walking dead. 💀

How many episodes was she really in this year? I don’t remember her having that much screen time.

      • That’s what I was thinking. Plenty of shows with huge casts are able to allow actors to work on multiple shows. Sasha barely got any screen time so far this season. Funny, I remember back when Jeffrey Dean Morgan was appearing in the first season of Supernatural; he was also on Grey’s Anatomy, had 2 movies in production, and turned up as a guest on another TV series. It takes some juggling, but it can happen. I also remember back when Smallville’s budget was cut, and you could blatantly see how main cast members were cut from each episode, because they could only afford 3-4 stars per episode. So you’d have an episode with Jimmy & Lois, then an episode with Lois & Green Arrow, then an episode with Jimmy & Chloe, etc.; as the supporting cast. You rarely got to see all of them in an episode together, outside of premieres & finales.
