Mel V.’s Variant Picks of the Week for 3/15/17

What Up CHU? Mel V. here trapped inside because of the “Blizzard” of 2017. I’m glad we didn’t get hit with 30 inches like they predicted, we dodged a bullet, but even still, no snow would stop me from bringing you guys Variants of the Week. Last week was pretty spot on but I did miss that Gwennpool Game variant that had sales over $100 last week. It’s settled down to about $70 now, but it is a nice score if you can still find it. Lets get into this weeks.

All New Soulfire Vol 2 #1 Cover D Incentive Michael Turner Variant Cover– I am gonna start it off with my sneaky pick of the week, Soulfire is back and this week it comes with a skeaky good Micheal Turner variant. It could be under ordered.. keep an eye out. None on eBay yet.

American Gods Shadows #1 Cover C Variant Dave McKean Cover – Sometimes I pick covers with little to no spec play what so ever. Sometimes I just like the art. this is one of those times I would buy a print of this and frame it. Great work from Mr McKean.

Batwoman Vol 2 #1 Cover B Variant JG Jones Cover – JG Jones is a simply amazing artist, I love the look and feel of this cover. I must have this

Deadpool The Duck #5 Cover C Incentive Joyce Chin Variant Cover – ever since issue 3, these Deadpool the Duck incentives have been doing pretty ok on the aftermarket.. let us see if this holds up this week

Super Sons #2 Cover B Variant Dustin Nguyen Cover – In my opinion, Mr. Nguyen is one of the few artist that can capture what I think the feel of The Super Sons is all about, another great cover

Venom Vol 3 #5 Cover B Incentive Clayton Crain Variant Cover – Big Boy variant. I love venom and I love to see different artists renditions. I like this version enough to add it to my weekly list.. buy it if you can find for cheap

I want that Batwoman cover too.

  2. Andrew Cantrell says:

I picked up the American Gods McKean cover. I also really like your other picks. Anyone know about the Romita incentive cover for Amazing Spiderman 25? I just went to my LCS and they had about 100 issues of this so I asked what the incentive was and they said it was a Romita but haven’t seen any of these on any sites. I read that if retailers ordered so many of them there was a major discount……so not sure which story is true.

  3. Birdman says:

What? No love for Sienkiewicz’s Trinity cover? I thought for sure it would be on your list. Also expected to see the video game variant for Monsters Unleashed. I will be picking up both of those. I also anticipate getting Ron Lim’s classic cover for Amazing Spidey this week. From last week, I was able to find the Gwenpool “Contest of Champions” variant for $6 (I don’t understand why it has skyrocketed in price) and Bianchi’s Silver Surfer for cover price.
