The Diamond Comics Advance Reorder List is a great speculator tool. It shows what books retailers are going back to get more of, in advance of their release. They are actually putting their money up betting these books get big. These are the books people are talking about in shops, message boards, and websites. Here is the Diamond Comics Advance for 4/17/17:
Interesting week. Secret Empire is all over the list. Retailers look to be banking on a Marvel Event, however, this is supposed to be Marvel’s last event for a while (hopefully as there are a ton of tie ins.) Hey Look, the Image 25th Anniversary box is still on the list.I can’t see stores getting any more boxes this late in the game. (I would still like one or two though.)

I am wondering how big of a hit Marvel took for their abrupt discontinuation of the Free Digital Copy codes. I was definitely part of the write-in campaign to complain about it, and I dropped a few books as a direct result since I can only read so many books a month when I can’t read them on-the-go (and I was reading 80% of what Marvel put out). They are bringing the codes back starting with Secret Empire and they say it is because they listened to fans and what they heard was 100% negative. I do believe that. But wonder if they also saw much lower orders coming in from retailers since readers were dropping books. Then when the codes were announced to return, retailers are now bumping up their orders. I’m definitely glad the codes are back. It was such a crappy decision on Marvel’s part, and with DC starting the codes, what perfect timing was it for them to try to lure in those who felt scorned! (Not that it worked on me, because DC’s constant reboots and soft reboots and overall lack of continuity keep me from buying more of their books beyond the few I can’t let go of).
