Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each wth potential, we pick the ones we feel have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 5/10/17:
Big week this week with a lot of spec potential. Wallet breaking week really. While I am looking forward to Wednesday, I am not looking forward to the bill.
And happy Mother’s Day (early) to this who are, who have, or who are married to Mothers.
Returning Favorites
Cannibal #5 – awesome non-zombie zombie book. If you haven’t checked it out, do so. The back issues are cheap pick ups.
Fix #9 – Even though April is over I will still pick up the April Fools variant. Great, fun read.
Harrow County #23 – Best horror book on the market, great read, optioned a while back.
Renato Jones Season 2 #1 – Will probably be picking up both Spawn covers on this. First series was awesome, great read over all.
Scooby Apocalypse #13 – I do love Scooby Doo and this re-imaging of the series has been a good read.
The Odd DC One on the List
All-Star Batman #10 – New character created by Scott Snyder. The new female character seems like a cool character with a cool design, waiting for the spoilers to come in, but first appearance and first cover appearance on the C cover make this a winner.
New #1’s
Medisin #1 – new book from Action Labs. Small Print run. Think Night Nurse for super-villains. Sold out on Midtown… Hmmm
Bug The Adventurers of the Forager #1 Paul Pope Cover – Sadly, the Young Animals books haven’t taken off, however, this Paul Pope wrapped book is a pick up for me. Even if you do not go for the Pope cover, it is Mike Allred who is awesome too.
Small Press Gem
Regression #1 – New Image series, so not completely small press but not big two. Regression is a wicked looking new horror series that is very strange. Really looking forward to this and will be picking up the Spawn covers as they are doing well online.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Solar Flare #2 – Besides just being an awesome book, the first issue came in with a print run of about 3,000 copies, making it really small print run, with Comichron reporting the sales through Diamond as being 2,125 copies. Now James Haick has said the print run on the second issue is about 1,800 copies, meaning the second issue dip will make this very difficult to find
The Pick of the Week
Mindbender #1 – Scout puts out great books with small print runs. Couple that with Brendan Deenan actively trying to get these books turned into media deals, well, it is worth picking up a copy or two just for those reasons alone. Add in that it is a great read and it equals a winner. Also, sold out at Diamond and pretty much everywhere on line. Make sure to check at Mycomicshoparound 8 to see if they have copies.
