We told you back on 7/29, in fact we were the first to report this, that Generations Banner Hulk and Totally Awesome Hulk had sold out and going back for a second print. The second print covers were done by Francesco Mattina. We also reported that the Hulk cover was one of 5 connecting covers that were commissioned for a store variant that fell through. We got word today that the connecting Mattina covers will be used on all the one shot 2nd prints.
Word came out through Diamond that the second print for Generations Phoenix and Jean Grey #1 has sold out in advance of hitting the stores, is going back for a second print, and will feature the next part of the connecting Mattina covers. Nice to know the connecting covers Mattina painted will not go t0 waste.
The art has not been released yet, but we strongly feel thee will sell well.
The second print cover is out September 6 and we will update with the art as it becomes available.

I wonder how this will affect some the sales. I didn’t pick up a copy and was not planning on picking up any of these one shots…..but I’m a sucker for Mattina and connecting covers especially at cover price.
Yeah. The only problem with the connecting covers on this is that they will have the black bars on the sides so they won’t be connecting like they were previously. The bar will interrupt the flow.
Marvel should address the black bars before it goes to print. IMO. Why do connecting covers if they technically don’t connect?
I like Mattina but I’m not bothering with these one shots myself.

You know Marvel did this on purpose. They pulled the store variants from what store was gonna do it because they know that Mattina is a hot artist right now. They’ll make more money with every shop having the Mattina 2nd prints than they would by having a store variant exclusive only to said store. The elite really know how to make that money disappear from your pocket.
Counting 4 of the 5 surfaced so far – does anyone know what the 5th cover will be please?
Cheers
