Each week hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 2/14/18:
Great week this week. A big wallet busting week.
GI Joe A Real American Hero #248 – Regular cover for me on this one with the art featuring female Snakeyes Dawn Moreno.
Invincible #144 – Remember when Kirkman used to put out awesome books. This was one of his greatest stories. Last issue.
Mage The Hero Denied #6 – Matt Wagner’s opus. Besides Grendel, Mage defined my love for indie comics.
Stray Bullets Sunshine And Roses #32 – Another book that defined my love for indies was Stray Bullets and pretty much anything else David Lapham put out.
Marvel’s Hot New Book
Avengers #680 – Never thought I would say this, but the Avengers is an awesome book. Each issue has sold out and done well. I am keeping up with this 12 part weekly release. Sold out already and going to a second print.
For the Cover
Despicable Deadpool #294 Hulk Smash – Deadpool book with an homage variant. Yeah, this will sell out (sold out at most stores online)
Doctor Strange #385 Mike Deodato Jr Hulk Smash – Popular artist doing a great rendition of a fan favorite version of a character. This is sold out at many places on-line.
For the Cover
Supergirl #18 Artgerm Variant Artgerm Cover – Artgerm’s run is coming to a close. I have loved these covers and cannot wait to see him again next year at NYCC to get the rest of my set signed.
The Pick of the Week
Stabbity Bunny #2 – Have you noticed there are no regular cover pre-sales on eBay? There are a bunch of the variants but no regular covers. Weird. Needless to say, the first issue jumped up in price and had a tiny print run. Both good things. The second issue will have a smaller print run as most stores order heavier on the first issue than the second and usually do not have time to up their orders on the second issue by the time the first one came out. Perfect storm for hotness.
