Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 4/4/18

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 4/4/18:Gigantic, wallet busting week! Let’s get into it.

Returning Favorites
Xerxes Fall Of The House Of Darius And The Rise Of Alexander #1 – Going back to the world of 300 by Frank Miller. I think there will be a ton of movie fans looking for this one.
Batman #44 – Batman and Catwoman get hitched, what can go wrong? (Just ask any married man!)
Batman White Knight #7 – Joker is finally unleashed in the Sean Murphy hit Batman series.

The New Image Number Ones
Analog #1 – by Gerry Duggan and David O’Sullivan. Five years from now: the security of the internet has been totally destroyed. Secrets are no longer sent over the web, they’re entrusted to armed couriers called Ledger Men.
Isola #1 – from Brenden Fletcher and Karl Kerschl. The captain of the Royal Guard has fled with the Queen who is suffering under the effects of an evil spell their only hope is a place known in myth as Isola, land of the dead.

The One with the Walking and the Dead
Walking Dead #178 – Part 4 of the Brave New World story line. Things go pear shaped this issue. Two covers, the regular and the creepy Andrea Bill Sienkiewicz cover.

The Covers of the Week
Spawn #284 – Three Francesco Mattina covers, the regular, the black and white, and the virgin. I have a feeling the virgins will be watched up quickly. Just great looking covers.
Deathstroke #30 Francesco Mattina Cover (available on eBay)  – Deathstroke #30 Francesco Mattina Cover – Inside the issue we get a Maury Povich moment where Batman finds out that he is not Damian Wayne’s father, wrapped in the Killer B variant we told you about.
Harley Quinn #41 Frank Cho Cover – Great looking connecting cover, connects with issue #42

The Cheap One
True Believers Thanos The First #1 – reprinting the first appearance of Thanos, for $1. I have sold multiple copies of True Believers reprinting keys for well above the $1. Sit on them for several months and they will go up.

Small Press Gem
Welcome To Paradise #1 – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly set in an underground bunker the size of California, 3 centuries after the Apocalypse. This is done by one of the most enthusiastic people in comics AC Medina. Great guy and a book I am looking forward to.

The Small Press Pick of the Week
Dredd Furies #1 – takes place in the Dredd Movie universe. These have been great flips and Great reads.

The Pick of the Week
Amazing Spider-Man #798 (available on eBay) – No way around it, even with a huge print run, this one will be one for the win column (especially when Shawn B. does the One Year Later post, well, one year later.) Red Goblin is here.

And in case you missed it, here is the New Comic Spec Review Video for 4/4/18:

  1. I thought issue Batman #50 was the marriage issue…do you have any spoilers? Or did you already spoil it?
Did you see the A/B covers are “kinda” connecting?

    1. No wedding yet, I meant in general. Nothing to spoil. It is a great issue though, it shows off cat woman through time and her different outfits. This issue is all about outfits.
