Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 7/18/18

Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 7/18/18:

Very weird week because it feels like a fifth week. However, SDCC is this week and a lot of news will come out, however, small week for spec books.

Killer B’s
Batman #51 Kaare Andrews cover– Just a great looking cover, I have seen Kaare Andrews work before but this is just fantastic.

Harley Quinn #46 Frank Cho cover – I do love Frank Cho’s take on Harley. These Apocalypse covers have been funny, but it has been like this the whole run for Frank.

DC’s Picks
Injustice Vs. The Master’s of the Universe #1 – Just think if He-man makes it over to the game. This is not the first He-Man cross over with the DC Universe. This looks good.

Teen Titans Go to the Movies #1 – I love $1 books an have loved the preview for the movie. My kids and I cannot wait for this to come out.

Image’s Hot New Thing
Weatherman #2 – Great series. This week issue 2 has another ratio variant that is worth grabbing if you can get it cheap.

Because Artgerm
Life of Captain Marvel #1 – Fan favorite Artgerms cover is wonderful. I love his work.

Indy Spotlight
Great crop of Indy’s this week. Here are my favorites.

Clan Killers #1 – Previews of the book make this fantasy series look like an awesome read. Alterna comics have small print runs

Nancy in Hell #1 – This Amigo book has a cult following and has had a pilot episode of a tv show successfully kickstarted.

Futurama Annual #1 – This brings the characters back to comics. This is the first annual for the book. Big fan base on the show and the first issue of the comic is worth good money. This is my book to watch.

Twelve Dancing Devils #1 – out from Danger Zone. This Small Press crime drama sounds awesome. More of a reader than a spec as danger zone has put out some great books but not many have heated up.

Dead Life #1 – one of my two Indy books of the week. A horror/zombie story that doesn’t follow the traditional tropes. A guy drinks from an cursed chalice in his grandparents attic unleashing the zombie apocalypse.

Euthanauts #1 – this isn’t as much a spec book as a cool looking read. Small Press gem for sure.

Pick of the Week
Mall #1 – James Haick from Solar Flare’s new Scout series. CHU had its hands on the first appearance of the series by doing an ashcan that is available on the scout store. A free comic book day issue also came out that had a CHU shout out in it. Needless to say, this 80’s crime drama is awesome.

  1. Got me The mall cover A and the 1:10. There can’t be too many of those. Also found me a x-men 2099 gold foil edition from 1993

    1. Mall 1:10 is going to be impossible to find this week because Diamond shorted a ton of shops. They are gonna send them out next week.

  2. When is the winner of James Haicks ‘name the character’ contest from a few months ago, going to be announced? Any idea?

  3. i’ve noticed a few sellers on ebay have listed an asm vol 5 #2 (7/25) lucio parillo variant with the new villain on the cover but i cannot figure out where it’s from. not a standard variant or incentive. thought it must be a store variant but can’t confirm. comic mint has done parillo variants but this one isn’t on their site. is it comicxposure?

    1. I saw it at Sad Lemon, so that will most likely mean Comic Mint, Golden Apple, 7 Ate 9, Amorphous Ink, and Frankies will have it.
