Diamond And Marvel Releasing NYCC Variants to Retailers

Diamond and Marvel Comics offer retailers five New York Comic Con-exclusive Variants in October.

Marvel and Diamond have you covered if you cannot make it to NYCC 2018. They are releasing 5 NYCC exclusives to stores after NYCC ends. I always give the preface, do not go nuts on these, but Venom #3 SDCC PX exclusive did shoot up in value so the new Venom arch starting in #7 might not be a bad grab.

The titles are as follows:

NYCC 2018 BLACK PANTHER VS DEADPOOL 1

NYCC 2018 RETURN OF WOLVERINE #2

NYCC 2018 SPIDER-GEDDON #1

NYCC 2018 SPIDER-GIRLS #1

NYCC 2018 VENOM #7

Didn’t you have a hard time selling last years exclusives or was it the year before.. ?

The second that an exclusive at a major convention (nycc or sdcc) is made available to the general public, that’s the kiss of death for me. The whole draw and “flipness” stems from individuals who want a book but can’t get it because they’re not at the convention. So these are now officially off my list. A 10% likelihood of success is not worth it

If its available to retailers, then it is no longer ‘exclusive’. All it is now is a regular variant with an unknown print run, as Comicchron wont count the books that are sold at the actual convention (i think). Great for collectors. Bad for speculators.

      • Bill says:

Webster dictionary aside, my point is “exclusive” to the convention has a significant monetary difference than an “exclusive” that is made available to others that can’t attend the convention.

      • Bill says:

In other words I completely agree with you. I think that was missed in my reply
