Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. Here are our picks of the week for deliver 3/6/19:
Killer B’s
Harley Quinn #59 Derrick Chew Cover – Great looking cover worth the pick up.
New #1’s Worth the Look
Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History #1 – a must pick up. The Donny Cates created character goes back through time again to cause havoc.
Astro Hustle #1 – New Dark Horse SCI FI exploration type book. Looks fun, the Greg Small Wood cover has sold out several places online and could be the one to grab
Black Hammer 45 #1 – a new miniseries in the Jeff Lemire Black Hammer universe. Takes place during the golden age
Obey Me #0 – Ok This is a number 0. Based off the video game of the same name. Looks cool and we have seen video game tie ins heat up. However, I can say not many Dynamite books do, so this one is a gamble.
Covers of the Week
Star Wars Vader Dark Visions #1 – This has to be the best Vader cover I have seen in pretty much forever. I would buy it for the cover alone.
Conan the Barbarian #4 Mark Brooks Spiderman Villains variant – Featuring the Red Goblin. Sold out at many places online, this could be a hit.
Returning Favorites
Unnatural #8 Joe Madureia Cover – I like this series a lot. The B covers have been risqué in the past, this one not so much, but still gonna grab one.
Walking Dead #189 – I am still on the series for now. We may finally show us some action. Looks like chaos is coming down for the commonwealth.
Immortal Hulk #14 – Not much to say but pick this comic up. Both covers sold out online at several places. Second Print already announced.
Indie Spotlight
God of Bad Men #2 – the follow up to the sold out first issue from Amigo, this one is sold out at Midtown early despite being limited to one per customer.
Ronin Island #1 – from Boom, just sounds incredible. Two warriors who don’t like each other have to team up, pretty standard samurai stuff right? however, there is also a mutated horde that threatens to wipe out humanity
Zombie Tramp #57 – starts an all new ZT saga with a new Zombie tramp, Angel Lynch. Zombie tramp fans are fanatics and this could be a good pick up over the long term.
Small Press Gem
Once Our Land Vol 2 #1 – In production for an animated film.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Fartnite #1 – Keenspot spoofs the mega popular video game and sold out quickly online Could be a great flip
Pick of the Week
Ziggy Pig #1 Secret Variant – Poop’s Creek cover. These have been great flips in the past.
And in case you missed it, this week’s New Comic Spec Review Video:
It so odd, I love Artgerm, but have not been into these Chew covers, even tho the styles are a little alike.
I can’t believe while I’m at the lcs I’ll be looking for a secret poop variant cover…
My PCs got one. I did. It get it. Will be at another shop at lunch looking.
I look for secret poop variants every week, about time you guys jumped on the bandwagon!
Comic Ghost Rider looks like a fun read.
God of Bad Men #2 is back in stock at Midtown.. But it was sold out earlier this week.
I made fun of that Darth Vader cover. I understand it’s a homage, but he is not COOL ENOUGH YET.. let’s give DARTH VADER A SHIELD.. I mean, It’s not like he can’t stop laser shots with his hand like in Empire Strikes Back or block them with his saber..
