One Week Later Report for March 20th, 2019

Welcome once again to the another installment of the One Week Later Report. This week we’ll cover the books released on 3/13/2019.

Sorry for the late post, I usually get these weekly reviews out around 7:00 PM CST but I got behind with a load of you know, the day time job.

Not a huge week but once again, the winner books seem to be coming out of Marvel once again.

DC Books

Not a whole lot for DC this week. Most you can still find locally and online. Here’s the two that sold out at most online retailers.

Cover #6 Jim Lee Variant B B sold out at most online retailers but not a lot of love on the secondary market.

There was one auction with 1 bid that ended at $8.00 and a few other sold listings a wee bit over cover price. Plenty of others available and I made a trip to my local shop where there was plenty available.

So if you love Jim Lee and his mugshot, you can likely still find these out there.

Wonder Woman #66 Kalvachev Variant sold out at most retailers online but most sales on the market outside of the retailer space is around cover price.

It’s not a bad cover but something about her face just doesn’t sit right with me. I had to pass on it.

Seems DC is doing a little bit more rotation with their B variants. I welcome all newcomers but maybe I’m not in the minority with this one and others avoided it as well. Perhaps most just went with the Wonder Woman #66 Regular Terry Dodson cover.

Marvel Books

Avengers No Road Home #5 is now a solid $10 book on average.

There’s a lot of buzz about this title with Conan and now after we saw a glimpse of what’s happened to Hulk in issue #6 (which is already approaching the $10 mark after being released today), these are definite check out and pickups if you ask me.

You can go ahead and pre-order the 2nd print for Avengers No Road Home #5 (2nd Printing) already.

Also starting with issue #8 the connecting variants are ending Noto’s connecting variants and Scalera is taking over, which we can assume are going to be top notch for you connecting variant junkies out there.

You can pre-order the Scalera’s at issue #8, issue #9 and issue #10 . I do believe No Road Home is a 10 issue series so this would end out the run if so. At least they’re not doing 3 covers each for issue to create the connecting variant like DC….

The new Magnificent Ms Marvel #1 variants are seeing a lot of action on the secondary market but unless you got these for cheap or cover, sold listings are all over the place.

The Babs Tarr variant is selling anywhere from $20 to $40.

The Elsa Charretier 1:50 variant is selling from $40 to $60 but most sales seem to be $55 to $60 on average.

Indie and Small Publisher Books

Transformers #1 hit shelves last week with a new Volume 4. These don’t normally catch heat but sometimes the variants do well. Not this time though, maybe it’s a long term gamble if you found one for cover or cheap.

The Transformers #1 Williams Variant is only seeing sales around the $12 to $15 range, which is about the price most retailers likely were selling it at.

Now if you found the “Treatment” variant of this same cover, that one is selling well if you found it for cover or cheap. Treatment is basically IDW’s way of saying its been foilized. Ss that even a word? Let’s make it a word if it’s not. Yes there are Transformers fans but I don’t see that many shops ordering 50 books to qualify for this 1:50 ratio variant.

That’s it for the week in review. Not a big spec week or a big week for any secondary market winners. Only time will tell if any of these books turn into long term winners.

If I missed any books, it’s likely due to the fact you can still find them online, at the local shops or they simply weren’t selling above cover on the secondary market.

  1. My shops still had plenty of No Road Home 5s and 6s…might go back for s few more 9.8 quality books tomorrow if this keeps trending up.

  2. There was decent action on Shredder in Hell #2 1:10 variant, sales over ratio on this. I sold a copy I bought for $6 for $30.

    1. I did overlook this one. Seems there was on sold listing for like $7 but that seems like it was a mistake perhaps, most others are selling $20 and up, which isn’t bad if you got for cover or for $6. Most shops usually price these around the $15 range.

      Shredder in Hell #2 Scalera

    2. I agree with you. This variant didn’t get much love but is getting some solid sales in the $30 plus range! Good sale. I got a few at $6 as well

    3. Same here Eric R. Bought a couple for 6$ and they both sold for over 30$ within a day…. have one more tempted to sell with the Albuquerque as a RI Lot?!!!!!

    1. Nothing immediately exciting, but some mid to long term spec on new issues, and definitive som back issue action in hulk and venom land.
