Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the shelves each with potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 4/3/19:
For me, this is a small week for spec, which means things will probably sneak up on us, such is the way.
Killer B’s
Wonder Woman #67 Esteban Maroto Variant – cool Cover, was on the fence about it but grabbing a copy.
Green Lantern #6 Lucio Parrillo Variant – Must pick up B cover. Parrillo’s star is rising.
Harley Quinn #60 Frank Cho Variant – Welcome back Mr. Cho!
Cover of the Week
Amber Blake #1 Catherine Nodet Variant – Love the cover. Sexy and dangerous. Love that it is an upward angle on the cover giving the reader the perspective they are the one she is standing over holding th gun to. Just a great cover.
Just for Fun
Rocko’s Modern Afterlife #1 – I am a fan of Rocko’s Modern Life. I love the mashup that is Afterlife with Archie. So when Zombies invade Rocko’s home town, I want to read.
The New Marvels
Major X #1– Rob Liefeld’s new character. Sold out at Diamond in advance of release. Will go back to a second printing. And is just plain silly. No lie, I am kinda hoping it is good and kinda hoping for a train wreck. I do so Love Liefeld.
Avengers No Road Home #8 – Conan in the Marvel U has brought some interest to this series. Last issue ended on a cliff hanger. Will this be the issue he actually steps foot in the 616?
War of the Realms #1 J Scott Campbell Cover – I love this cover. Love the background having the classic cover behind her. Check out all the variants at Tfaw. They have a bunch of them.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Bronze Age Boogie #1 – Cool, funky 70’s exploitation tropes all together. Will fill the void for Astro Hustle which was canceled due to some bad actions of the writer.
Pick of the Week
Immortal Hulk #16 1:25 Variant– No way around it, this is the big book this week. A 1:25 ratio variant selling for well above ratio. Try to find it cheap and flip.
That’s it for this week. And in case you missed it here is this week’s New comic Spec Review Video:
