Harley Quinn Cover Artist Derrick Chew Covers Stake

Stake by David A. Byrne (David is a friend of and commenter on CHU) is a new self-published comic being premiered at Mega Con. Hot cover artist Derrick Chew (Killer B cover artist for Flash and  Harley Quinn) did the cover for the Ashcan edition that will be available at the show. David has made some of the ashcans available on his site before the show. If you are a fan of Derrick Chew, indy books, or horror/action series, check this book out.

The 12-page preview with cover art by Derrick Chew will include several story pages, background, character bios and sketches, and story art for Stake – including a preview of the fully rendered Derrick Chew covers!

They are available at David A. Byrne’s website for $2.50 each. There are also copies signed by David, signed copies by Derrick Chew, and double signed copies available.

So what is stake?

Stake is a vampire story for people who are sick of the same old same old vampire tropes.

They’re not supernatural, they’re not evil or demonic. They are biological organisms, an evolutionary sidestep from humanity. In the world of Stake, they simply are.

Admit it, we all knew vampires were real. Three years ago, ancient vampire Ashwyn confirmed just that when he ripped Brock Wilson’s heart out live on every media outlet on the planet.

On that fateful day, Angel Beltran Stinson was a normal teenage girl – more concerned with where she was going to spend her college years than worrying about being abducted with her two best friends by the mother of all vampire baddies.

All it took was one instant to change her life forever.

Tensions run high in a world torn by Ashwyn’s actions. In response, the world’s governments and the International Vampire Senate established the Vampire Bounty Hunter Union to keep order between humans and vampires.

With the help of her ageless vampire warrior partner, Jessamy, Angel sets out to track down the vampire who destroyed her life – and she’s sharing it all on social media.

  1. Just placed my order. The funny thing is that it says free shipping but they are charging you $7 to ship it. Someone needs to fix that.

      1. When you are ready to pay and it gives you shipping options it says free shipping and next to that it has $7.00 charge. I can upload an image here or else I would. Let me send it to Anthony so that he can send it to you so that way you can see where it says free shipping.

  2. A Virgin Cover ashcan was added to David’s web-site for pre-order in addition to the regular cover ashcan. I ordered both. Looks really nice. Good luck to David.
