  1. A Cho name change, one of the highest printed DC comics, a kinda first British Spiderman first appearance for those who have EOSV #2 envy a bunch of junk. Wonder what’s up with Spawn #9? Naomi falling off and Immortal Hulk and his name change and all other immortal books fell off completely.

    1. In the e-mail they send out directly they say Spawn #9 is making it’s 3rd run at the spotlight due to Angela maybe being in the next Guardians movie. That would be the 3rd run on this book counting the initial sell to Marvel deal I got screwed on and a 2nd brief one when people were specing she was the new Thor prior to finding out it wasn’t her but Jane foster.

Massive print run but with tons of copies. On the first go round the spec train people were selling unopened cases of 500 on E-bay. spawn books in general are up right now with the movie coming but long term this issue should settle back down again into the $5 to $10 range like it did the 1st two times.

    2. The Cho book is based on spec Cho might be subbed for Hulkling in a Young Avenger movie. The DC book was from a tv show mistakenly announcing it as a 1st appearance that sounds a bit too complicated to credit cleanly to any book. If you sign up for their free version, they e-mail you the full list with descriptions sometimes, sometimes they forget to.

    1. With Universal behind it I’m sure they will be horrible comic adaptations. It will be a one film and done like Universals Monsterverse with Tom Cruises Mummy.

  2. Naomi is dropping like a stone at the moment. 9.8s were hitting $500, now sitting at $200.

I have 5 copies sitting at cgc with fast pass…TATs were promoted as 9 days but it didn’t get logged in for 9 days after arrival…so that’s disappointing.

Was hoping to flip 3 or 4 to pay for a nice silver age key…I can feel that slipping through my fingers day by day…

    1. I was expecting them to drop anyway. Disappointment in the lack of originality in the story origin revealed so far combined with no tie-in to her being 1st ethnic female to wear the House of El symbol which is what everyone was talking about back at the beginning. If they had at least given her a superhero name and any SINGLE superpower in #5 it would have helped. People are smart enough to know when they’ve been suckered by Bendis. Not one single super power in #5 after promising to reveal all. Just the familys space/jump suit. Maybe you can still get $25 for those #1’s raw.

      1. I sold four #1 raw copies for a huge profit. Even if it drops to 1 penny, the one copy I have left would still add to my profit margin.

        1. No complaints here on profitability. Sold out all 1st Printings up until 5 and even made profit on the Final Printings thru 4 with 2 sets still on hand to assemble with 1st Print 5’s and 6’s for reader sets. I’ve been expecting the price to drop since it went over $25 a copy. That’s just too high for a modern comic that’s not even a true 1st appearance of anything other than a kid with no super powers, costume or even a super hero name on the cover.

      2. At this point I’m just hoping Bendis isn’t so blatant as to have Zumbada be African American. How long did Hope spend trying to stay ahead of the law enforcement officer Bishop who was African American? The only flip here would then be that Bishop was a law enforcement officer while Zumbada was a prisoner. It almost appears Zumbada’s getting got some type of energy manipulation power like Bishop.

    2. Naomi #1 only dropped because some dummy listed it at $199.99 + shipping buy it now. The day before it ended at auction at over $300. Now people feel they need to list it at $200. The one dumb seller just lowered the market by $100 just because he was desperate to sell his quick.

      1. I will NEVER understand the undercutters. It is the MOST STOOPID thing in the world to lower a price on a book when it is selling at a certain level. I get that you don’t want to get stuck holding it but how hard is to understand that when everyone does the same thing, it drives the price down. Long term, market will correct and supply/demand will take care of a books true value but DAYUM, some people are just dumb…

        1. I also expected a drop from $500…was hoping it’s hold around $300 until I got my books back. I’m more concerned that I might not get them on the market until after issue #6 where I’m possibly left trying to decide to sell or hold.

Yeah, the idiot that listed theirs $100 below market seems to have started the slide.

        2. It makes me angry cause I just got 2 9.8s back from ebay today. I’m still happy to make $200 for it, but $300 would obviously be better. Some sellers just don’t know what they’re doing and they hurt the entire market.

  3. Just taking a quick look at the eBay numbers, looks to me like the last 10 days or so have averaged around that $200 mark for a 9.8 CGC .. maybe 2 or three listed in that timeframe at around $500, but sold with Best Offer ..

Books are worth what a willing buyer is willing to pay .. I just don’t see this one as a long term hold / gainer ..

  4. One sell at 200$ shouldn’t affect the market in the least!

Once that listing is over the remaining listings stay at 300$+

Those who want to buy the book will have to shell out those prices.

The only thing one seller selling his copy at 100$ less than current market does is probably push other sellers to do the same or lower their prices on their current listings.

If that is the case then it’s on the sellers.

That 200$ sale should be an outlier more than anything else.

If I end up getting lucky and buying an ASM #300 CGC 9.8 for 600$ because some seller was desperate for money, doesn’t mean that the new market value for ASM #300 CGC 9.8 is now at 600$. It will stay at 1000$+
    regardless.

The main reason Naomi has dropped is because the hype died with issue #5. They billed Naomi as this all new mysterious character, that’s linked to Superman and House of El and finally she has nothing to do with Supes. She’s just another alien with unknown powers living on earth which is not original at all.

The character however still has room for additional story to be added that may impact value positively, but it can also further kill her value.

    Come on now!

    1. Well said, @AL. An outlier sale doesnt set market values. One seller does not set market prices. Markets set market prices.

  5. If anyone is selling Naomi 1’s at $25 in NM condition, contact me. I will buy every one you have at that price and sit on them very happily. Same with $200 9.8’s. Let market flood, supply dry up, and price spike again. It Will
    Happen.

      1. For the B cover? No thanks. But the A for $200 with shipping included? I don’t see a single 9.8 CGC slab at that price with shipping. If you see some, let me know and I will gladly snatch them all up. Thanks for the assistance!

  6. DC has big plans for Naomi if people agree with it or not. DC is pushing diversity and signed Bendis to a big contract to create these kind of characters. Still alot of mystery surrounding how Naomi’s powers originated in her parents and what connections she will have with the rest of the DC universe. Think now when prices dip after the initial hype will be a good time to buy. Maybe wait until prices stabilize.

  7. naomi 9.8 prices are falling because everyone is getting theirs back so market is flooded. same thing happened with tt12. flood is temporary. once desperate under cutters are out prices will start to rise again. DC is gonna push this charterer hard. 24k print run for a hero DC is gonna push now is the time to start snipping 9.8 from scared under cutters with low ball best offers

    1. Exactly. Most slabs are just now coming back so undercutters are going nuts. Let them have at it while the long term, patient ones sit back and invest wisely.

  8. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=totally+awesome+hulk+%2322&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1

Totally Awesome Hulk #22 is the closest similarly run up book I can think of. It’s now selling CGC 9.8’s for less than $100 and RAW for as little as $26.

That was combining two of Marvels most popular heros into a new mashed up one, not an unpowered teenage alien with daddy’s space suit and a voice in her head that reminds me so much of Hope from the X-Men it’s almost laughable.

I still have hopes for issue #6 but I can’t see #1 staying high long term and no reason to think it should. Best guess is she gets a long term gig with Young Justice but even being with the Teen Titans couldn’t make people spend crazy on the last female alien DC spit out and that one has a big name father with established fans.

    1. The print run on TAH #22 is purported to be around 23,000, which, if memory serves, is around the same as Naomi #1 .. I think your comparison is valid ..

      1. TAH22 had a 23K on 1 cover. Naomi #1 has 2 covers w/ a 25K print run. There is that diglfference.

And, imo, Weapon H is not a good or interesting character. He is essentially Hulk w/ claws. The point being that the Hulk, with his power set, has no need for claws. The thing that sets Weapon H apart from Hulk is a set of useless (for a gamma hero) claws. Very dull character. We have yet to see exactly what Naomi is and/or can do. Outside of hotness and similiar print runs, I do not think it is a valid comparison, until we see Naomi in all her glory (if there is any). Weapon Hs book is closed. Naomis is still being written.

        1. Weapon H would make a great movie to introduce Wolverine and or X23 into the MCU Naomi would be a DC movie and there for be horrible if made.

  9. “He is essentially Hulk w/ claws.”
That’s not exactly true, Hulk and Old Man Logan represent part of the mix but there were a number of others contributing DNA that authors haven’t explored yet.

Wolverine is generally a killer, an animal being held in check barely or sometimes a samurai depending on what the writers need from him. They try other roles on him from time to time including Professor and father figure for any stray young female that passes by.

Hulk on the other hand is all over the place but in the past, generally the victim wanting to be left alone or child throwing a tantrum because he wasn’t. he does good sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose and at times has other personalities or combinations driving the car.

Weapon H is a soldier, a tactician, a family man, father and husband. He can follow orders but is smart enough not to be a mindless tool. He thinks, plans and is cool under pressure. Those claws you don’t like did a pretty good job shredding things in defense of the planet Wednesday in the latest Strikforce issue. He hasn’t had as much development as quickly as I would have preferred but even with the little there is so far shows him growing and being more than a soldier for hire mindless money puppet. I was soooo hoping he made the Avengers roster in #10 but it’s only a matter of time now with Captain America finding value in him. In terms of marketability, hulk has distribution restrictions and an established actor nearing the end of his run so the stage is set to start introducing new players into the MCU and I can’t think of a better one. Some situations need prescision, some need smashing. He has the strength and claws to do both as needed and enough brain to know when each is more appropriate.

  10. This Naomi vs. Weapon H feels like a coversatiom that should be hosted within the new forum!

I love how lately you can merely shout “Naomi!” and run away and watch arguments ensue from afar…it cracks me up, but also it’s interesting to see the different perspectives.

Let me throw in a wild card….Batman Who Laughs. What was he print run on TT12? There’s a character many poo poo’d and many said would fall into obscurity once Dark Nights Metal was over. And 9.8s dipped to about $100 but then a new limited series follows up….characters developed a bit more…and now 9.8s are above $400 again.

Just saying! Weapon H/TAH22:hasn’t really seen that rebound.

    1. TT12 has a 57K print run between 2 covers, with the A being the best due to cover app. Naomi is a new, diverse IP at a company in some serious need of diversity, and isn’t a mash-up character written by a B-list writer. I honestly don’t even think the TAH vs Naomi debate is even there. I would look more at Miles, Riri, KK, and Jessica Cruz as better comparisons so far as characters go, and then factor in print run. That’s why the book will hold value long term.
