    1. Helmut Zemo was created by Roy Thomas, Tony Isabella and Sal Buscema and first appeared as Phoenix in Captain America #168. Nearly a decade later, he made his first appearance as Baron Zemo, in his now familiar costume, in Captain America #275

      1. Yep it’s a suit and name change in #275 and secret wars is 1st black costume in chronological order first Black Suit is ASM #252 and some will try and tell you Marvel team up #141 and Spectacular Spider-Man #90 tie ASM #252 they do not they were two weeks after ASM #252. Fun fact Transformers #3 with black suit Spidey hit shelves a week after Secret Wars #8

        1. There is also a 2nd print of Transformers #3 (not sure about a third). With reprints being all the rage today that one might be a good, cheap pickup.

        2. In December,1984, the black suit appeared Transformers #3 (of a 4-issue limited series) has a publication date of January, 1985, so it must have been on the shelves in late 1984 near the same time as Secret Wars #8. Secret Wars #8 has a publication date of December, 1984.

Earlier, in May, 1984, the black suit appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #252, The Spectacular Spider-Man #90, and Marvel Team-Up #141.

It is also worth noting that Spidey wasn’t even the first to wear the black costume, in continuity. Julia Carpenter, the second Spider-Woman, wore the black suit first in Secret Wars #6 and #7. This explains Spidey’s comment about “maybe” being “subconsciously influenced by that new Spider-Woman’s suit”.

  1. If War of Realms #1 reg cover is selling below cover on avg wouldn’t that make it not not? 4/10 all the old comics and new agents of atlas #1.

  2. Shout out to Alana, with the Transformers # 3 knowledge! Forever schooling us, keep it coming please. Thanks!

    1. Marvel Transformers from the 80s is what got
Me into comics. My all time favorite toy. Issue 3 was worth more than issue #1 for a while because of the early black suit appearance.

Not sure what universe transformers are technically in where a black suit Spider-Man shows up…but it’s kind of an iconic cover for transformers fans. Still commands about twice what issue #2 does despite not truly being part of the true Marvel Universe.

      1. G.I Joe and Transformers are the first comics I ever collected. Good times! I think since Marvel was doing a mini series they figured why not throw in the webhead to boost sales even more, not realizing the series would do so well and command a continuation.

  3. captain America #168 has a power records reprint.tough in high grade and so classic.and no love for themarvel thundercats series??and wow no inmortal hulk on the list?? love you all blind adam out

  4. Why is Lethal Protector #4 hot again? Did I miss some news on Scream or something? Still have a few left so I guess I should dig them out.
