Final Order Cut-Off Highlights for 6/24/19

Final Order Cut-Off is the last day that shops can guarantee their orders for comics. After Final Order Cut-Off, or FOC, these books will only be available to retailers on Advance Reorder. And that is not guaranteed. So here are the highlights for Monday, 6/24/19’s FOC list.

COLLAPSER #1 – Awesome looking Young Animal book from DC.

There’s a voice in the head of Liam James questioning everything he does-from his job at the nursing home to keeping his relationship with his girlfriend afloat. Liam suffers from anxiety, and the only thing that quiets it is music, which makes a weekly DJ gig his one saving grace. But Liam’s life changes forever when he receives a black hole in the mail (yes, you read that right), one that takes up residence in his chest, grants him insane superpowers, turns him into a celebrity and draws him into a cosmic conflict beyond his wildest imagination. Where did this black hole come from? Why Liam? Is power the cure? Or will superstardom turn Liam into a black hole himself? Find out in COLLAPSER, a superhero story that could only come from DC’s Young Animal!

  1. I didn’t order the Giant-Size X-Men Facsimile since I can’t even get the $1 True Believers off the shelf. There’s at least five other reprints out there in the back stock boxes as well including Marvel Milestone Edition, Classic X-Men #1 and that prestige format one with the blue in the cover I bought as a kid myself off the spin rack.

Overall a rather blah FOC week with no one here even getting excited about the Carnagized variants enough to preorder. It feels like we’re about to get overwhelmed with Carnage. I spent the weekend trying to figure out what to order for August and it’s a boat load of Carnage with so many Carnage titles and so many Variants I don’t see how any store can chase them all and expect to pay the invoices on time. Order getting submitted is already massive with Marvels total for the order and there’s a lot I skipped and want to add on before FOC.

Only FOC book this week I’m doubling the qty for is Invaders #7 just in case.

    1. Marvel being Marvel…here comes the Carnage bow wave….this whole “carnage-ized” thing is ridiculous. At least “Venomized” sounded like a real word or adjective…Marvel already over does it with themed variant covers each month that make no sense…now this. Who buys this crap? That’s the only reason it stick around.

Sorry, this is sounding like a rant that belongs in the Grinding Gears thread….lol.

      1. Agreed. Carnage-ized is a silly concept with a ridiculous name. You cant help but to stammer every time you try to say ‘carnage-ized’. Boo-urns!

        1. Champions #1 Perkins store variant is listed as a Venom variant but it’s Carnageized the original cover and I use to write that it was carnageized the exact word now Marvel is using it. I have proof of this with dated and timestamped comments here on CHU. Do I got a case to sue Marvel, or at least enough of case to have the, drop the Carnageized variants.
          Lol

    2. I have the original and the Chromium Classics but I’d actual be a customer for the Facsimile. I use Facsimiles for coffee table books that I rotate every month.

  2. Isn’t Blade Runner supposed to be put in the future? BR 2019 just doesn’t sound appealing to me on the surface. Push the date out a few decades!

Who am I kidding….I still wouldn’t buy it.

      1. “In the neo-noir city of Los Angeles, 2019, Ash, a veteran Blade Runner, is grappling with a new case: a billionaire’s wife and child, apparently kidnapped by Replicants for dark purposes… “

The title is “2019.” The description says its in 2019 LA, but it’s “neo-noir.”

Sounds like it’s “present day” but maybe alternate reality where 2019 is more “futuristic” compared to this universe we are in? Otherwise I’m confused. But I do t read these books so maybe it makes sense to those that do.

  3. I just remembered why I doubled the order for Invaders 7. It’s one of the one’s that should get Carnage-ized Trade Dress treatment.
