Final Order Cut-Off Highlights for 7/22/19

Final Order Cut-Off is the last day that shops can guarantee their orders for comics. After Final Order Cut-Off, or FOC, these books will only be available to retailers on Advance Reorder. And that is not guaranteed. So here are the highlights for Monday, 7/22/19’s FOC list.

MARVEL

ABSOLUTE CARNAGE SCREAM #1 – Absolute Carnage is gonna be big. This takes a look at Patricia Robertson who used to be bonded to Mania.

ABSOLUTE CARNAGE SEPARATION ANXIETY #1 – Riot, Phage, Agony and Lasher take center stage in this issue.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #27 – A new Sinister Syndicate made up of Beetle, Electro, Lady Octopus, Scorpia and White Rabbit debut.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #9 – Sure, Star appeared last issue, but this issue has a kick ass Mark Brooks cover.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #9 CHRISTOPHER MARVEL 80TH FRAME VARIANT – The 80th Anniversary frames kick in this week. Classic.

IMMORTAL HULK DIRECTORS CUT #1 – Immortal Hulk gets the directors cut treatment. Get the first issue for way less than the $20 the regular goes for.

SILVER SURFER BLACK #3 – Sure the art doesn’t meet everyone’s standards, but the story has been great. Lots of surprises.

DC

CATWOMAN #14 CARD STOCK VAR – Artgerm provides a crazy good animated style Catwoman cover.

SUPERGIRL #33 CARD STOCK VAR ED – Dang it, I did not want to like these higher pried variants, but this Derrick Chew variant is great.

IMAGE/INDY

REAVER #2 – Second issue of the hot new Justin Jordan series.

WATCHER #1 – Not a huge fan of Zensescope but this Anacleto cover is awesome.

STRAYED #1 – Cool sounding new series. In the far future- a military-industrial complex reigns over all humanity and actively destroys distant alien worlds. The galaxy’s only hope can be found through an unlikely pair: an astral-projecting cat named Lou and his loving owner Kiara. Trading nine lives for the well-being of billions- their revolt is a battle for love- friendship- compassion- and the soul of humanity.

UNEARTH #2 – Cullen Bunn and Kyle Strahm’s hot new comic gets its second issue.

WHITE TREES #1 – CHIP ZDARSKY teams up with superstar Runaways artists KRIS ANKA and MATT WILSON for this spectacular OVERSIZED TWO-ISSUE MINISERIES! In the fantastical world of Blacksand- peace was hard-won- and three unbending warriors carry the scars to prove it. Now- almost twenty years later- their children are missing and war is on the horizon. Can they put aside their memories of the war-and each other-for one last adventure?

  1. Finally sat down on saturday to try and organize my collection. Found an Immortal Hulk #1 that i had completely forgot I had ordered. That was a pleasant surprise. 🙂

    1. Nice. I started gathering up IH books myself to start listing. I think once the series ends it’s going to continue to cool off a bit. Rather sell now than later.

      1. I read an interview with Ewing last week where he mentioned Act 1, and the way I read it, it seemed like up to #25 was what Act 1 meant. Could be much more coming, so I don’t know what this reboot thing is. (I believe the article was on Newsarama.)

    1. *loving*

The other thing is 33 years ago they were the 25th anniversary frames….so the math isn’t adding up….but that’s nothing new for Marvel and it’s made up milestones to sell books…

…watch 8 years from now we’ll be celebrating 100 years of Marvel Comics…

      1. 33 years + 25th Anniversary = 58 years minus from 2019 = 1961. 1961 was the year they started using the name Marvel from their previous names.

This 80th Anniversary is the entire history including all names in their past when they were created in 1939 as Timely Comics.

Maybe that sheds some light on the anniversary bits..

        1. Yes. They are not ‘made up’ milestones, as DRog stated. Rather they are convenience milestones. Lol

        2. So basically Marvel has multiple timelines that they can call milestones which multiplies the amount of times they can use the gimmick.

  2. I wish Marvel would do a Surfer title with more accessible art. This is two series in a row where the sales pitch for the book starts with “ok, look past the art for a minute and check this book out”. I appreciate that artists have a lot of different of styles, and I can sell most anything. But when the customer base is used to a particular character having a more traditional style of art (like Silver Surfer or the current Thor run) it can be tough to convince them to even try a book.

To be fair, I imagine plenty of readers hated Steranko taking over their favorite books 50 years ago. But it’s been quite a while since there was an “easy to sell” Surfer book.

  3. I always wait till the last possible time to place my order .. July FOC is Friday at 4:59 AM Eastern for On Line orders .. I don’t know why Diamond always picks some odd time like that .. I’ll submit my order on Thursday like I always do ..

If anyone has any last minute tips, I’m all ears .. 😉
